New Girl

Chapter 7

It's finally Saturday! I wake up to the smell of burning. I hear my mom and dad yelling like crazy. I jump out of bed and a wave of panic comes into my mind. I run into the kitchen, where there is loads of smoke.
"What's going on?!?!" I yell. Paige and Olivia are crying, my mom and dad are yelling, and I'm pretty sure nobody heard me.
"Dad burnt our waffles!" My mom tells back. She coughs and waves the smoke out of her face so she could actually see me.
"Is there anything I could do to help?" I yell back.
"Dad and I have it all under control." My mom yells. I shrug and head back into my took. I climb back into bed and relax. I check my phone, because it is buzzing like crazy. It's Hunter!
Hunter- hey!
Me- hi
Hunter- do you wanna hang out today?
Me- omg sure!

I scream into my pillow.

Hunter- what do you want to do?
Me- what do you mean?
Hunter- like, where do you want to go?
Me- ohhhh lol
Me- uh idk
Hunter- do you want to go bowling?
Me- ok!
Hunter- does 1 o'clock work for you?

I pull my mom out of the smoky kitchen and ask if I'm available then. She says yes!

Me- yeah! It's perfect! You're on ;)
Hunter- Ok! See you then! Do you want to go to the North Oak Bowling Alley?
Me- Sure! Sounds great!
Hunter- Ok. See you then :)

Oh. My. Gosh. Did Hunter just ask me on a date? We're just friends, so it can't be a date. I scream in my pillow again. I walk over to my dresser and get dressed. I pull on a white sweater with a silver necklace. I then put on dark pair of skinny jeans and a pair of tan boots. I go into the bathroom and do my hair & makeup. I curl my hair in loose curls and put on some lip gloss and mascara.
Finally, 12:45 comes and it's time to leave! I get into my Mom's car and we drive to North Oak Bowling Alley. My mom drops me off.
"Have fun Em!" She says out the window. I smile and wave goodbye.
I walk in. I see Hunter getting his bowling shoes. He sees me and his face lights up with glee. He motions me over and I rush over to get my bowling shoes.
"What size?" The employee asks
"Size 7 please." I say, nodding.
"Coming right up!" The man says, as if he is a chef.
"So, do you like our town so far?" Hunter asks as he rests his arms on the shoe counter. The man hands me my shoes and we walk away from the counter.
"Yeah I guess." I say shrugging. Hunter looks disappointed.
"What's wrong with North Oak? It's a beautiful town." Hunter says.
"I know, it is pretty, it's just Nicole haha." I respond. Hunter rolls his eyes and smiles.
"Yeah, she is intimidating. She's always been the "queen bee" Hunter says.
"Oh." I say.
Hunter sets up the game, and we start bowling.
"Ladies first." Hunter says. I blush.
I bowl, and I get a strike. Hunter and I cheer together and we hug quickly.
"We got a pro in here!" Hunter says as he laughs and grabs his bowling ball. He gets a spare. About 30 more minutes of bowling go by, and we decide to get something from the snack stand. We split a medium order on fries. We also get cokes. We discuss our friends, school, sports and so much more.
Unfortunately, it was time to leave. Hunter won the game!
"Today was so much fun!" I tell Hunter.
"Yeah it was! We should do it another time." He says. We hug and walk out of the bowling alley, where our moms are waiting for us.
"Bye Hunter!" I shout as I climb in my car.
"Bye Em!" He responds. Wow. Only my family calls me Em, I guess I'll make an exception ;)
