I wake up to my phone buzzing.
"Good Morning!" Hunter texts me. I smile.
"Good morning :)" I text back. He doesn't respond, so I get up out of bed and head into the kitchen for some breakfast.
"Good morning Honey! Happy Sunday Funday!" My mom tells me as she hugs me. She is wearing a white t-shirt and pink sweatpants.
"I'm going on a jog soon. You wanna come?" My Mom asked with a curious look on her face.
"Sure!" I reply, grabbing a banana for breakfast and going back into my room to change. I slip on a lime green workout shirt and black leggings. I put on my sneakers and eat my banana. I pull my hair back in a ponytail and a lime green headband. After I finish the banana. I brush my teeth and go back into the kitchen, where my mom was waiting for me.
"Ready?" She asks.
"Yup!" I respond, giving her a thumbs up. We drive to the park, and begin jogging. My mom and I stop for a water break, and suddenly someone behind me puts their hands over my eyes.
"Guess who?" The mysterious voice asks. I immediately recognize the voice. Hunter! I pull the hands off my eyes and turn around.
"Hi Hunter!" I say, hugging him. My Mom is watching us, and I hope she doesn't think that we are dating, because we are not.
"What are you doing here?" He asks, looking into my eyes.
"Oh, I'm jogging with my mom. You?" I say, still out of breath from the jog.
"Oh, I'm exercising with my Dad." Hunter replies, looking back at his Dad.
"Oh, cool." I say. Hunter nods.
"Would you like to sit down?" Hunter asks.
"Uh, sure." I respond. I look at my mom and she mouths "it's ok. I'll keep jogging and leave you two alone." I nod and watch her jog off into the park. Hunter and I sit down on the bench by the large lake.
"It's a beautiful morning, isn't it?" Hunter asks.
"Yeah." I say.
"You know Emily, I like you. You're beautiful, kind, honest, did I mention beautiful? And you always make me smile." Hunter says, looking straight into my eyes. I blush. Nobody has ever said that to me before.
"Aw Hunter, I like you too!" I say, as I grab his hand.
"Emily Brenneth, would you take the honor of being my girlfriend?" Hunter asks in a certain, formal voice that makes me giggle. This is the decision of a lifetime. Do I date my best friend's ex-boyfriend? Or do I deny the love of my life?
"Yes! Yes I do!" I say. We hug and my eyes fill up with tears of joy.
"Would you like to jog together?" Hunter asks.
"Sure!" I say, standing up.
We jog for a good 30 minutes, and we talk about almost everything. We finally stop for a water break, and I catch my breath.
"Wow, that was my workout for the day." Hunter laughs as he takes a sip of his water bottle.
"Yeah, me too haha." I say, laughing along with him.
"Do you want to come watch me at my basketball game tonight?" Hunter asks.
"Sure, I'd love to!" I say.
"Ok. It's at 8, and at our school's gym." He says.
"Ok. I can't wait!" I say cheerfully.
We both go home, and when 8 o'clock comes, my Mom drives me to Hunter's game. Hunter scores 3 baskets, and I cheered wildly every time he scored. During halftime, I see Hunter scanning the stands with his eyes, looking for me. I wave to him and when he finds me, he waves back with a big smile on his face. At the end of the game, Hunter approaches me and we hug.
"Sorry I'm so sweaty haha." He grins.
"It's ok." I giggle. We go out for ice cream, and then we head back home. As soon as I step in my house, I let out a big sigh. I walk into the living room to find my Dad watching The Wiggles with Olivia and Paige.
"Hey Party Animal!" My dad says exuberantly.
"Hi!" I say as I walk into my room. I'm so tired, so I get into my pajamas, climb into bed, send Hunter a goodnight text to Hunter, and drift off to sleep.Authors note- Thank you so much for reading this chapter!
