chapter 2 : plans

It was already Friday and the next thing you knew you were at a cafe with Hange. The second your class ended after your lecturer gave an explanation of your project, you were dragged out of class by Hange. The cafe you two were at was a pretty popular place among the students as it was near campus and the food served there was good as well. It also had a nice environment where everyone was busy and it had a faint scent of coffee. You sat there awkwardly, waiting for Hange to finish ordering your order along with theirs. Never in your life did you think that you'd be sitting with the Hange Zoe alone at a cafe.

"(Y/N)! Sorry for making you wait. Here's your drink", Hange said handing you your drink. You replied with a thank you before taking a sip. You decided to get a cold drink. "Also, I apologise for dragging you here right after class, (Y/N). Actually, I wanted to take this time to get to know you better" A lie but not really. The real reason was that Hange wanted to know if you were seeing anyone. Truth is they grew quite fond of you.

"Don't worry, i'd also like to know you better" you said before putting down your drink. Hange smiled and started with a simple question. "How about we ask and answer at the same time?"

The rest of your chat was basically typical questions like favourite colour, zodiac, favourite place to eat, favourite movie and etc.

"Alright I think we should get going since we have class together don't we?", Hange asked, lending you a hand to get up. You held their hand as you got up, blushing a bit. The funny thing was that you two were still holding hands even though you were already out the cafe.

How weird. Is it normal to hold hands with a friend like this? Come to think of it, you never held hands with Rico or any other of your friends. Yet here you are holding hands with Hange who you started talking to just a few days ago. Maybe it was Hange's way of being friends. You forced yourself to think that so that it didn't lead to anything else.

"Say, are you seeing anyone at the moment?", Hange said out of nowhere making you blush once again.

Alright now this is getting weird. You really didn't want to believe that Hange saw you as something more but with the hand holding and the questions... There was definitely a possibility but you still didn't want to admit it. Hange sees you as a friend. Nothing more, nothing less.

"Why do you ask?", You replied back, stopping your tracks.

[ HANGE'S POV ]

"Why do you ask?" I honestly felt a bit taken aback by her question. Did I make her uncomfortable? Please don't tell me she's gonna start hating me! Remain calm... It's just a 'friendly' question.

"Isn't that question something you always ask when you met someone new?". There we go! The main reason of this meeting was to find out her relationship status. Why? No reason. I just like to hang out with (Y/N). It would be weird if she had a partner and I kept hanging out with her, right? But why does my heart hurt a bit when I imagine her with someone else. Sad.

[ Y/N'S POV ]

"Uh N-no i'm not seeing anyone right now! I've been busy with exams that I never really got to meet anyone". Hange nodded and continued to walk, still not letting go of your hand. It felt weird but you secretly liked holding their hand. It was slightly bigger than yours so it kinda fit perfectly.

Sooner or later, you arrived at the classroom. You looked around for Nanaba since you two had this class together. You saw nanaba waving a hand at you, signaling you to sit with her like you always did.

"Ah well i think i'll go first! Thanks for today i really enjoyed it", you smiled at Hange, letting go of their hand before leaving to sit with Nanaba. "Oh.. alright! anytime hahah", said Hange as those were their last words before they went to sit somewhere else.

You sat beside Nanaba feeling a bit odd. You swore Hange looked a bit sad when you left but it was probably your imagination.

[ HANGE'S POV ]

If Levi were to sit somewhere else without me, i'm sure i'd be sad, right? Honestly, I wouldn't mind. I never cared about who sat with me but it's normal to feel this way. Of course it is!

"Hey shorty, if I- wait no, Erwin, sat with someone other than you, would you be bothered by it?", Hange asked the shorter man. They needed someone to at least confirm that what they were feeling was normal for a friend.

"No I wouldn't.. Erwin always sits with me so I don't have to imagine it but I wouldn't care if he sat somewhere else", the black haired replied.

If that's how Levi feels then i'm sure I should be feeling the same way as well! (Y/N) has never really sat with me during class but its fine. I don't mind! At all! If I did want her to sit with me then I should try to get closer, shouldn't I? We already hung out just now so that's a first.

Aghh! This is frustrating... I should stop thinking about it but she seems so nice and sweet even though we just talked.

"Oi shitty four eyes, what are you so frustrated about?"

"Oh hahah it's nothing!", I waved it off. It can't be that I like her, right? She's just a friend that I like because she makes me happy whenever I'm around her! I should seriously stop thinking about her. What if someone can read minds in this room?!

"If it's nothing then you free this weekend? Erwin wanted to go out with us since it'll be the one time he's free to hang out" My eyes widened at Levi's statement. That's it! Maybe hanging out Erwin and Levi would take my mind of her.
