chapter 17 : night

"......... could you sleep beside me tonight?"

My eyes widened as soon as I heard them say that. I could feel my cheeks turn warm and a smirk creeped on their face. "I'm just kidding, darling"

I quickly looked away, trying to hide how flustered I was. "S-stop saying stuff like that!", I softly hit their arm. Hange looked at me with a pout on their face. "I was just joking around! Do you really not want to sleep with me?" I stayed quiet for a while. I mean, duh of course I do. But was it too fast to start sleeping with them?

I mean, we're just sleeping. That's it.

"If you don't answer, then I'll just assume you do", they shrugged before getting under their blanket.

Before I could say anything, I felt Hange wrapping their arms around my waist, pulling me beside them. I could feel their warm body behind mine as they nuzzled their face into my back. Thank god I wasn't facing them at the moment. I said that a bit too soon. Hange then slowly moved me so that I was facing them, still not letting go of their arms around me.

"I want you to look at me"

My face was most probably as red as a tomato in that moment, they proceeded to hide themselves in the crook of my neck.

"H-Hange.."

They lazily looked back at me, giving a small smile right after. "Could you hug me back, please?", they said, hiding themselves back into my neck. I simply obeyed their orders as I reached out to rest my hand on their head. Slowly playing with their hair, untangling their messy brown locks.

Honestly, this is much better than seeing them jealous. They seemed so peaceful when like this. I could feel their soft breath fan my neck. Hange tightening their grip on my waist to pull me closer. If only things could stay this way. It was one of the moments I'd love to cherish more. "(Y/N)?"

I hummed in response, looking down at them. They repositioned themselves so that we were on the same eye level.

"You're not into anyone else right now, right?"

Slowly shaking my head, Hange gave a small smile as they nodded back. "I wanna be the only person who can hold you like this"

I blushed again at their statement. Hange, you're starting to make me fall for you more. Was this my confession to myself? Maybe. I did start to like Hange but I wasn't sure if they were romantic ones. Trying to keep my cool, I replied back. "I could say the same as well. And you're not sleeping with anyone else, are you?"

"No! Do you think of me that way, (Y/N)?!", they pouted while aggressively shaking their head.

I just laughed and replied with a simple "no". Hange sighed, relieved to hear my answer. We both in a comfortable silence after that. Suddenly, I heard a phone rang which I assumed was Hange's phone. Strangely enough, they didn't move an inch, continuing to hug me. "Aren't you gonna take that, Hange?"

I heard them groan and slowly get up. "I wanted to have some time with you but it looks like it can't be helped... could you wait for a minute?" followed by me nodding. The brunette standing up and walking a bit further from the bed.

I settled myself back into their bed. I slowly closed my eyes but I couldn't help but hear Hange's conversation on the phone. It was most probably Levi or Erwin since they themselves told me that they only saved those two's phone numbers.

"What do you mean I sound suspicious hahah", they nervously rubbed the back of their neck as they continued to talk to the guy. They then continued talking about what I assumed was, detergent and how Hange said they didn't exactly need it, they just re-wore their clothes.

"Will you stop talking about me?! Just give me back my detergent later or just take it!", they tried to whispered but I could hear them from here. I quietly laughed at their attempt before they turned back to me and laughed nervously. "Hahah I'm guessing Levi misses me."

They walked their way to me before settling themselves beside me. "Let's sleep, shall me darling?", they cooed as they held me by the waist again. I softly smiled. "Good night, Hange", I said before giving them a peck on the head. Wait a minute. Did I just-

Hange immediately shot up before I could process anything. "You just kissed me, didn't you?!" They grinned, smiling for ear to ear. I looked away, it wasn't the first time this has happened but this felt much more loving than before. "Don't act like I've never done this! It was just a good night kiss. I'm sure you've done to Levi as well!" I tried to defend myself.

Their face went from happy to grossed out. Crap, I screwed up but don't people do this to their other friends as well? "(Y/N)...... If there's one person that would kiss Levi like that.. It's erwin. And even if I tried, I'd have to squat down."

"I'd do it to you, though! You're the perfect size", they smiled again, hugging me and pulling me closer like before. "I-i'm sorry.. just forget whatever happened just now, alright?" Hange shook their head, reaching up their hand to poke my cheek. "Why would you apologise?! If you want me to forgive you then how about you give me another kiss?"

"Ouch!" they cried after I hit their head with my hand in a fist. "Stop this flirting or I'll go back to my dorm", I glared at the brunette. They eventually gave up and continued to hide their head in my neck. We both finally decided to sleep since it was already getting late, both in each other's arms.

"Good night Hange, for real now"
