chapter 8 : friends

The day of gathering finally came and I was about to head to my dorm to change but I felt a bit thirsty so I went to my usual cafe. I opened the door, the scent of light coffee and fresh baked bread was in the air. It was such a pleasant smell everytime I came.

After getting my drink, I went out to leave since I didn't want Rico to wait too long. Walking towards the door, someone suddenly bumped into me. It seemed like they were in a rush but they stopped after the small incident.

"Ah! I'm so sorry!", they bowed continuously, showing how sorry they felt. It was actually a girl. She had brown hair and it was tied up in a ponytail. She had an innocent looking face and kinda smelled like.. potatoes? If I tried to recall, I think she's a junior.

I smiled, putting a hand on her shoulder. She was shorter than me. "It's fine! Take care by the way", the girl nodded in response and headed back to her friends.

"Is it just me or why the hell are you with me and not with Hange?", said Rico as I approached her. I rolled my eyes at her question. "Are you gonna go with Hange or? Just saying but if you're gonna do anything funny, go do it in their dorm—" I smacked her arm before she could finish.

"What is with you?! We're just friends so nothing 'funny' is gonna happen, Rico", I said, crossing my arms showing that I was annoyed. She just smirked as she rolled her eyes. What is wrong with her?! I haven't told her about us hugging the other day but it was better if I hid it since it'll just make her even more annoying.

"What do you mean 'just friends'? Do you have any idea how our other classmates notice that there's something going on with you two? Hange would drag you out the second class ends and you two would be together for the rest of the day.... not that I mind", the girl winked at me after finishing her sentence.

Are you serious? She's probably kidding... Hange only hung out with me because of our project so I'm sure it'll all be back to normal after this gathering. Speaking of the gathering, it's in a few hours so I should probably get ready soon.

"(Y/N)! We're only going for a gathering, not a ball!" the girl whined, waiting out the door for me. "Wait a second!", I yelled back from the toilet. I was trying to find a cute hairstyle to wear since I felt like my outfit was pretty normal. I ended up just doing a half up half down hairstyle before putting on some perfume and heading out the door.

As we arrived at the bar, Rico and I were looking around for Petra and the others. Apparently she arranged a private room for the gathering so we were just waiting for a waiter to show us the way.

I then heard a voice from behind me, "Oi sasha! Stop stealing the sweets on the counter!" I looked behind to see the girl I saw later today. Looks like she was with her friends and the girl was putting the sweets in her bag before anyone could notice. I mean, they are free so there's no problem.

She was with two others. Two tall men, one that had a mullet and one that had buzzcut. I'm guessing they were juniors as well but funny meeting them here. I met the girl's eyes and her face immediately lit up as she saw me.

"H-hi! I'm not sure if you remember but we met earlier and are you here for uhm.. Petra's gathering?", the brunette said as her friends followed here. I replied "Oh no I do remember you! And yup, i'm just waiting for a waiter to show us the way"

Rico looked behind her as well and met with the juniors. "Oh you're... Eren's friends, am I right?" The two of them nodded while the one with the mullet just looked away as if trying to ignore what Rico just said. Looks like they knew each other, which is great knowing we have more friends later.

"Oh I forgot to introduce myself.. My name is sasha braus! This is Connie", pointing at the one with the buzzcut as he introduced himself more. "And this is Jean!", pointing at the mullet boy. He smiled and he looked pretty nervous. He then introduced himself followed by me and Rico's introduction. The five of us chatted along as a waiter went to show us the way to our room.

"(Y/NNNNN)!!!!", yelled a familiar voice as I entered the room. I smiled nervously at Hange as they gestured me to sit beside them. The room was actually pretty big and it had one table that fit all of us. Sasha and her friends went to sit with her friends at the end of the table, meeting with another three. "You guys came!", said a brown haired boy who I guessed was Eren. The other two was a boy with blonde short hair and another was a girl who had short black hair.

As I sat down beside Hange, I noticed that on my right was Levi. He honestly looked like he didn't even wanna be here. Petra greeted Rico and I along with some other familiar faces like Nanaba, Nifa and Miche. The gathering was going great, we just talked about how we all felt glad after finishing the project. We also had exams coming soon which was perfect for this gathering since we needed to let off some steam.

"Alright guys, time for drinks!", said Nanaba, ordering us beer. Soon we all were drinking, even the juniors were having fun. Hange and I just talked about their new experiment ideas while I was starting to feel a bit tipsy. It was no surprise I was a light drinker but the worst part was that I never remember what happened until it's the next day.

Rico was aware of this but she was too busy with Petra and the others. I'd rather see her have fun rather than her taking care of me every time I drank.

[ THIRD PERSON'S POV ]

(Y/N) was starting to feel sleepy as well but she tried to fight it since Hange was still talking about their experiment plans. "Okay so then I was thinking of—" Hange got interrupted as they felt the girl beside them fall into their chest. "You asleep, (Y/N)? Hahah! We just started drinking!", they burst out laughing, fixing (Y/N)'s position so that she was sleeping with her head on the table. Hange patted the sleeping girl's head with a smile on their face.

"Oi shitty four eyes, what are you gonna do about this?", pointing at (Y/N) beside them. Hange shrugged to piss Levi off since Levi hated seeing people getting wasted like that.

Around two hours have passed and Petra decided that she should end the gathering here since it was already getting late and we still had class tomorrow. Some of them have already left, including the juniors since they weren't really used to staying out this late especially on weekdays.

Rico decided that it was to leave as well. She bent down on her knees to wake her friend up. She was used to this and was usually bothered with (Y/N) drinking but she didn't care this time since she felt like the girl was overworking herself lately. The dark haired blonde started massaging her friend's shoulder to get her up.

"Oi (Y/N)! Will you wake up already?!" the girl whined, shaking her friend's shoulders back and forth. The girl finally woke up, groaning as she felt like her head was spinning. "We're going home, okay?", said Rico, putting both her hands on both sides of the sleepy girl's face.

Hange didn't realise that Rico was waking (Y/N) up and they were talking to Miche. They got a bit bored just now so they decided to find other people to bother.

(Y/N) on the other hand was stretching as she nodded at whatever Rico said. She herself wasn't sure with what she heard Rico say but she agreed anyway. She looked left and right and started giggling. Rico sighed looking at her. The time where it was a good to see (Y/N) and Hange together was the time (Y/N) decided to be drunk.

(Y/N) looked to her right again, smiling. "Byeeeee~ Levi~~" she said before leaning forward to give Levi a kiss on the cheek. The guy didn't seem bothered by it at all and just continued to drink his tea.
