(AN ~ I lost where I was going with this and ended up reworking the entire story😋. Now there's an unexpected ship💀. I feel it'd be best if you find out later in the story. I legit wouldn't blame you for skipping this cause um bro... the title is literally what's going on in the story.)
Third Person P.o.v
There was a quiet breeze on the streets. The chatter of children playing in groups and the music of the ice cream truck filled the streets. The sound of basketballs smacking the concrete, along with the sounds of splashing rang loud in the school areas. It was the last day before summer break. School had already been let out. Some had been sharing their last day with their friends before going away on vacation. Others buckling down on previous plans. Most of the school teams were sharing their last practice before the break. Shōyō had been more than excited for break. He put that energy to good use. Putting more than a hundred percent of his power into his spikes.
The reason for his excitement being that as soon as practice was over he'd be going home with Tobio. His family was going on vacation but he had to stay for practices during break, and they'd be staying for a couple months into the returning school year. Tobio had offered for Shōyō to stay with him. His parents were more than willing, not that they were ever home... Shōyō's parents had agreed on the condition that he call them each day and give them a thorough report on the activities of his day. It had been the first time they'd be that far apart for that long.
They knew Shōyō was old enough and capable, but they had their doubts seeing as this was the first time he'd be staying at his boyfriends house. But they trusted him. He'd never given them a reason not to. Not to mention it's not like they'd be alone the entire time. The other first years made it a point to work themselves into the couples agenda. They'd be having many sleepovers, much to Tobio's dismay. He had no interest in having anyone sleep in home besides the one boy he had barred his soul to, but his parents were away the most. When they weren't away they were very welcoming to the company.
Shōyō had packed quite a while ago, more than ready for his stay at ché kageyama (pls kill me idk where this even came from) He had brought his bag and sent it home with kageyama yesterday, because he was too excited to wait. His parents and Natsu had already left early this morning. So he had no reason not to go straight to Tobio's house. He was honestly ecstatic, he missed his awkward blueberry. Of course he had missed his fellow first years as well. Whenever they hung out there'd be lots of arguing, ridiculous shenanigans pulled, and lots of family behavior. Which was weird.
While they had seen each other in school, they hadn't gotten to see each other that much. They had created this little family amongst the family they had created with the entire volleyball team. If you were to ask how they hadn't gotten to this point they'd likely say that they weren't friends at all. Though no one would believe that after watching them for a mere five minutes. It was the kind of friendship that got you through tough times. The type where you especially rely on each other. But as you know athletes must maintain at least average grades to stay off the bench. That wasn't a problem for two of them but the other two had a hard time focusing on anything other than volleyball.
That being said they had been referred to tutors. Yachi would've had no problem doing it herself but their agendas didn't match up. School and life had gotten in the way of their personal lives the closer they came to break. They were quite frankly at their breaking point, one more day and the tall blonde likely would've lost it. Mouthing off to the next teacher to give him two times the amount of work they should've been doing. Shōyō was sure his brain was going to break. They needed this break and they'd get to have quality time with their little family. Since they hadn't spent much time together in the past few months.
