The very next day Stiles told Lydia all about the date and he could barely focus on his work, all his mind could focus on was the date. A few days later, when he got home it was pretty late and he found himself wanting to go over to Derek's.
It had been a while since he'd been to his favorite place and a part of him wanted to share that with Derek. He tried telling himself not to fall yet, not so fast and not so hard. The last time he did that, it didn't turn out so well.
But the next thing he knew he was standing at Derek's knocking on his front door. Derek opened the door in a flannel over a t-shirt and jeans. Stiles looked down at Derek's arms and saw the black puppy. He noticed the new tag around its neck and couldn't help the smile when he saw the name. 'Sirius'.
"Let me take you somewhere." Stiles said. Derek looked at him with a confused look "Where?" Stiles just smirked and said, "You'll see." As he practically dragged Derek out of his apartment and towards the parking lot after he put Sirius on the couch.
They got into Stiles' jeep and Stiles pulled out of the parking lot. Derek hadn't been in town long enough to get the chance to memorize the streets or decide his favorite places so this was going to be a surprise.
They drove for almost forty minutes until they finally got to their destination and Derek still didn't know where they were because anytime he'd ask Stiles would just say "It's a surprise." It was already dark out when they parked the car, walked in and there was no one in sight.
Stiles walked them over to the security guard behind the desk "Hey Liam, How's Hayden doing?" The guard got up from his seat behind the desk and walked around over to Stiles and hugged him tightly "She's good, man. How 'bout you?"
"I'm great! Hey, do you think we can go inside for a bit? I wanna show him." Liam turned towards Derek and smirked before leaning over to whisper into Stiles' ear "Is he the one?" "Who told you?" "Lydia."
'Of course.' Stiles thought as he answered "Yes. Now can we head in?" Liam nodded with a chuckle "Yea but don't be too long." Stiles said "Yea thanks!" and was now once again practically dragging Derek by the hand.
"Who was that?" Derek asked as they slowed down "That was Liam, he's an old friend of mine. He's working here to pay himself through college, Hayden is his girlfriend." Stiles responded as they walked into a room with portraits of solar systems and stars all around the room.
"This is by far my favorite place in this city." Stiles said as they came to a stop and sat down on some flat black seats. Suddenly purple lights shone from the ceiling and they turned to see Liam closing the doors behind them.
"It's starting." Stiles whispered, looking up at the ceiling. Derek doing the same. "Wow.." Derek said "Mhm." The ceiling shone brightly with beautiful stars and planets just like the night sky. It was mesmerizing and as they looked up Stiles let out a content breath "I love them."
Derek looked over at Stiles as he continued "You see that? Right there." he said pointing to a star. "That little blob of light?" Derek asked looking back up "That's right. The little blob of light. It's called Andromeda."
"It's the farthest thing visible to the naked eye actually." Stiles said glancing at Derek then back up at the ceiling "What is it? A star?" Derek asked, looking at Stiles "Nope. A galaxy. See, our sun is one star in the Milky Way galaxy. You know how many stars are in the Milky Way?"
Derek chuckled "I have no clue." Stiles looked over at Derek and said "300 billion. And Andromeda is a galaxy with one trillion stars. And they all shine together. So that my new friend, is the definition of wonder."
"My mom used to say 'God is so infinitely vast, and this is his painting. We paint with brushes and he paints with stars.'" Stiles said, taking a deep breath and laying back down on the seat. Derek copying his action as they turned and looked into each other's eyes.
"What are you thinking?"
"That I've never met anyone like you before."
Stiles' gaze turning back to the ceiling "Welp. I'm just one star in an infinite galaxy." Derek turned back to face the ceiling and said "Some stars shine brighter than others." And Stiles kept his gaze on the ceiling as a big smile crept onto his face.

Stiles and Derek had made it back to his apartment and were now talking a bit before Stiles had to go so he wouldn't be late for work the next day. They sat on the couch with Sirius in Stiles' lap.
"That was amazing, how'd you find it?" Derek said turning to face Stiles. "I found it maybe a year ago, a few days after I had moved here. It had been a long night and I didn't want to go home so I just wandered around the city. It's quiet and peaceful."
They talked for a few more hours before Stiles decided he had to get going because he had work the next day. Derek walked him to the door "This was amazing. Thank you for showing me your favorite spot..."
Stiles gave him a soft smile "You're welcome." They stared into each other's eyes for only a few seconds but as soon as Stiles saw Derek's eyes glance down at his lips then back up at his eyes he took a quick breath in "We should do this again." Turning around to walk to his door.
Stiles opened the door to his apartment and as he went to close it he heard a "Yea, we should." He paused for a moment as a small smile made its way onto his face before he closed the door behind him.
