Julian's POV:
It's her. It's actually her.
The person that changed my life completely six years ago... she's finally back. In my presence.
She looks almost the same as when I last saw her, except for the fact that she looks a little more mature now. Still incredibly youthful, however, as her smile makes her glow wonderfully, immediately bringing a drop of sunshine into my day, just like it did back then. My heart feels overjoyed looking at her.
"Wow," she says softly, her eyes getting wide. "It's been so long."
"Yeah, it has."
We gaze into each other's eyes for a few seconds before my attention quickly diverts, realizing that we still need to clean up the spill.
"Oh, sorry, we should probably take care of this first," I say, fumbling a little bit.
"Yeah," she laughs a little.
I quickly jog over to the condiment bar to get some more tissues and finish cleaning up the small puddle of coffee before throwing everything away.
We clean our hands before finally getting back to each other. I turn to her and look at her bright face.
"Um, this might be a bit too late in the moment, but can I hug you?" she asks.
I smile immediately; I was eagerly waiting for this.
"That shouldn't even be a question for me, Sophie," I say before quickly pulling her into a long, tight hug. I hear her wonderful laugh as she tightly wraps her arms around me. I chuckle as well, feeling so overjoyed. We give each other a (good) long hug, slightly swaying our bodies from side to side. After a while, we pull away from the hug.
"Here, let me get you another coffee," I offer.
"Oh, Jules, you don't have to-"
"No, it's perfectly fine. I'll get you one."
"Ok, thanks. But do you know what flavor I like?"
"Hazelnut, how could I forget?" I smile, making her smile back.
I order two hazelnut coffees for both of us. We soon get our drinks and sit on some lounge chairs.
I decide to make some small talk. "So, let's pick up on where we left off. What have you been doing over the last six years?"
"Well, after finishing college, I went to the University of Toronto and graduated with a finance degree. I ended up graduating from there a year early because I took advanced classes in college, so I got a lot of university credits out of the way. Then, I decided to move to New York. So, I finished my post-Grad studies here and now I work for Citibank as a Financial Analyst."
"Damn," I say, impressed. "You never cease to amaze me with how brilliant you truly are."
"It can be kind of stressful at times. I do get a great salary out of it though, and I don't have to work on weekends, so I guess those are a few positives," she says, laughing a little bit at the end.
"I can kinda relate to that. Mostly the stress, because of traveling to different places almost every day and going from country to country. Don't get me wrong, touring is such a fun experience, and meeting my fans and traveling around is great, but jetlag can be a huge problem."
"I hear you," she nods while drinking her coffee.
"Do you still play music?"
"Of course! You know that music runs through my family," she says with a warm smile.
