(A/N: Hello readers! I'm so sorry that I made you guys wait 10 months for a new chapter. It's because I decided to take a much needed break to focus on university, so I figured I would continue writing this story whenever I had free time, but I just never got back into writing the next few chapters. Also couple that up with the fact that now I'm not as obsessed with The Strokes as I once was when I started writing this series 4 years ago😭. But I hope you guys can understand that I go through phases with all the bands I listen to lol.
And I honestly still love The Strokes. They are still my #1 favorite band; I just don't listen to them as much now. But I still enjoy writing this story and I do come back to it anytime I can. I have some good ideas coming up soon, and I want to finish this story properly instead of discontinuing it, out of respect for the people reading. I hope you can understand where I'm coming from, and I'll try to write the next chapter faster so you don't have to wait for so long next time!
And also, if you have checked out my JC one-shot book compilation, that will also be updated with two new one-shots by the end of this month. Take care ❤️)
Julian's POV: The morning after
I roll around on the bed as I can sense the sunlight hitting my face. My fingers stretch out, seeking Sophie, but finding the other half of the bed empty, with the sheets slightly crumpled. I rub my eyes and wake up to see Sophie walking around, picking up her clothes from the floor. I smile as I notice that she's wearing my shirt.
"You look cute," I smile at her as she turns to me and notices that I've gotten up. She smiles back at me.
"Morning, Jules. Did you sleep well?"
"The best I've had over the last six years," I say, which makes her chuckle. "You?"
"Definitely."
I groan a little as I stretch. Sophie walks over to me, getting back into the bed to give me a hug and a small kiss on my cheek.
"I love you," she says sweetly as she rests her head on my shoulder and we both look outside together.
"I love you too," I smile back. We sway from side to side as a few seconds of silence go by.
"Jules?"
"Yeah?"
She lifts her head up from my shoulder and turns towards me.
"What we did last night... what we expressed for each other... it felt real. It felt so happy and caring."
"That's because it was, Soph," I say, stroking her hair and looking into her calm blue eyes.
"I know it's kind of weird to say this, but it took me back. It made me feel like I was sixteen again."
I understand what she means.
"I loved the two of us being together back then. I loved every single moment of it."
"Couldn't agree more. Even when we broke up, I always had hope that we could and would get back together someday. I wasn't joking when I told you that I waited for you for the last six years. After a few failed relationships, I concluded that you are the perfect one for me."
"Jules..." she says, a little surprised, with a wide smile. We interlock our fingers together.
"I miss this. I miss us," she confesses softly. "I want to feel those moments again. I want to be with you again."
"So, is it official then? Are we getting back together?" I ask with a hopeful tone.
She smiles widely as she nods in excitement and gives me a giant hug, making both of us crash back onto the bed together. We embrace each other as she laughs in happiness. A wonderful laugh comes out of me as a wide smile is spread across my face. She rolls off me a few moments later.
