Chapter 7: Secrecy

The last case we worked on was pretty greusome. We were working in Nebraska and there were 18 bodies. It was a mass suicide. I hate working on mass suicide cases because the culprit always dies either self suicide or suicide by cop. But today we caught him before he could jump off the tallest building in Nebraska. Alison is a great negotiator. We were all certain he was going to jump but she talked him down. Amazing, it really was. Just another thing she is brilliant at.

So after the case we decided we were going to go for dinner as a team, but there was a problem. See, I drove her to work today and it would seem pretty wierd if she just climbed into my car and not her own. So I had a plan. We were going to ring her other brother, Robert, and ask him to bring her car over and make it look like she drove to work. Worked briliantly. When we arrived home, her car was in the parking lot in her parking spot like it would any normal morning.

So we went to the chinese restaurant we usually go to for dinner after work. It was wierd, because all of the girls sat on one side of the table and all the men sat on the other. I was sat opposite Prentiss who was sat next to Alison. I would go into a daydream about her sometimes and everyone kept laughing at me. I brought my special chopsticks with me because I can never use real one's.

So we all finished our food and decided we should leave, we were invited out to drinks with everyone else, including Hotch, but Alison and I declined, I just said I was way too tired and that I didn't get any sleep on the Jet home. Alison said that she was going home to spend quality time with her boyfriend. Everyone just stared and so did I because I didn't know she was seeing anyone. I was kind of hurt by that but I tried not to show it. We wished everyone a goodnight and headed towards our cars. When I was inside my car I rang Alison to ask if that story about her boyfriend was true, she said it was, but that I was the boyfriend she wanted to spend with. I was flattered that she considered me like that. So I went home and she came and picked me up and we went back to her place.

We just sat down and she opened a bottle of wine and we talked for ages. We tend not to talk about the cases we have just worked because they can dampen the mood. I have no idea how long we were sat there but I went to get another bottle of wine when the door rang and it was Prentiss and Garcia. They brought a bottle of wine and said that they left the others because JJ went home and the lads were having another drinking match. That's when they spotted me and I had to make up a story about why I was there. Alison took control saying her boyfriend wanted some male company while she was doing some case files and she suggested Me because everyone else was out and she didn't want to disturb them. The girls asked if they could meet her boyfriend and I said he just left after his sister or someone rang.

So the girls came in and I decided it would be better if I left them to have a girly night. I said goodnight to everyone and I took her car because mine was at home, and I sent her a special goodnight text like I do everynight. So the next day in work, she asked to talk to me and we just talked about being more careful and that we should always have a plan as to why im at hers or why shes at mine. Then Hotch called everone into the case room to brief us all on the next case. It was in Louisiana and it would mean grabbing my go-bag again. I don't know how many different bags I have as go-bags. So we were on the plane and she kept looking over at me as if she wanted my attention but I couldn't exactly het up and walk over to her because we were in the middle of going over the case facts and Hotch wasn't in the best mood today, Strauss was in his office when we all came in this morning.

We arrived at Louisiana and went straight to the station where we would be working from. The case was in a small town in Louisiana where everyone knew everyone. So we took three bureau cars and headed toward our destination. The town was called Oakhill and was really quiet.Garcia was coming with us because Hotch said he would need her close because the signal in Oakhill is very bad. So the team were divided into cars as follows: Hotch, Rossi and Prentiss in one car, Morgan, JJ and Garcia in another and Me and Alison in the third car. It was nice because we could actually act like a couple without everyone watching us. So I drove and we just held hands the whole way there. We stopped for gas on the way and when we got out Morgan was joking with Alison saying "Poor you having to spend 3 hours in a car with Reid" she just kept sayin "He really isn't as bad as you say, I really like him, he is quite funny and always keeps me entertained in the car." Morgan just shook his head and kept walking. I went up to her and thanked her for defending me. She just smiled my favourite smile and walked into the gas station.

So we eventually got to Oakhill. It was sunset and the Sherriff decided we get some sleep. Hotch asked if there were any hotels in the town and the Sherriff just laughed and said " God no, but we do have accomadation for you, if you'd like to follow me". So we did and we ended up at, what looked like a log cabin. It was the only place big enough to hold all of us in town. But there were only 4 bedrooms and three of the rooms had double beds in them, the other had 2 singles. We all agreed that Hotch and Rossi should have the single beds, they just smiled and went to find their room. Alison then stood up and said " If were deciding who we bunk with, I'll take Reid if it's OK with everyone." Everyone, me included just stared at her but Morgan just laughed and said " Are you serious?"  She just nodded and went through to one of the double rooms. I just shrugged and followed her in. I think Prentiss and JJ shared and Garcia grabbed Morgan before he could say anything.

I was delighted that Alison said what she did and as soon as I got in I kissed her hard and then went out to get a glass of water leaving the door open behind me. Garcia went in after I left and was talking to Alison. I don't know what she said because I was on my way back with my water when Hotch called me over and asked to talk to me outside. I was kinda scared because he only ever talks to me if im with the team. He asked if something was going on between me and Alison and I confessed that there was and had been for the past month. I said we didn't want the rest of the team finding out yet, not even Rossi. He also asked me is that why she offered to share a room with me and if that is why she got into the car with me. I said yes to all of them and that I was just as shocked when she said she would bunk with me.

So it was later that night and everyone was sat infront on the fire in the living room. It was nice because it was peaceful and everyone was just reading. Alison was in our room and I got a text saying to come in. Hotch just looked at me and smiled, I needed and excuse so I got up and said I was wrecked and I was going to bed. I wished everyone goodnight and went into my girlfriend. It feels nice to be able to call her that. So that night she just cuddled up against me and we just spent most of the night talking again. She was talking to me and then she just stopped and sat bolt up in the bed and grabbed her gun. I copied because she would need backup if there was intruder. The handle on the door was turning and then it opened. It was 4 in the morning so it would be strange for someone to be coming into our room. We had our guns pointed loaded and ready to fire, then we saw someone go for the lightswitch and when they turned it on we saw it was just Morgan. His defence was 'He wanted to see what we were up to'. Alison went up to him and put his arms behind his back and pushed him back into his own room and closed the door behind her.

It was an interesting night because we couldn't sleep after that and that's when she came up with a brilliant reason as to why I would always be over there. She said she would promise to repay me for the damage but her plan was that we get termites into the house so it has to get fumigated and she could offer me a room to stay in until the house is finished. I liked it and we decided we would put the plan into action as soon as we got back.

We solved the case the next day. Turns out it was the town Sherriff killing passers by who looked at him funny. So we just went home. Boring day.
