We were walking inside an underground hideout. After I agreed to go with Alon, he moved his hand in a weird gesture and immediately a chunk of ground rose to reveal an iron door. The second we stepped in, I felt a drop, probably the piece of Earth leveling with the ground once more. Glass covered the walls and floors, making it look like a normal facility....below the Earth. This place wasn't living in the prehistoric eras! They actually had some stuff that belonged to this age! The sound of my boots clicking on the ground echoed around us. We were supposed to meet the man who was behind this whole operation, which seemed kind of weird since I just knew this group existed. Shouldn't they make me prove that I can be trusted first?
"We already trust you. Plus, I had strict orders to bring you here right after I rescue you," Alon said.
"How did you know what I was thinking?"
"It is one of the basic talents of an Elite. You will discover yours with training."
"What are the Elites and who are they?"
"The Elites are folerns with exceptional abilities. There used to be seven until Skyla came. She was an Elite, no idea how though. Anyways, the Elites are: our boss, Itzel, her son, Skyla, you, and me. At least those are who we actually know about. The last two have not been found yet."
"Thanks for the info. Do you know who is the man I will meet?"
"Sure thing I do. I have seen him five times before, but this is classified information. You will have to see him yourself."
I didn't reply. The whole situation was freaking me out. Everything was happening so quickly around me. I didn't know what my friends were doing right now, even though they were probably searching for me.
"When will I go back to my friends," I asked in concern.
"You won't"
Oh no! Those were really kidnappers as I thought. I should never have followed them! The nice acting was all a plan to lure me here. How didn't I realize that.
"Can you please stop thinking of us like madmen who want to hold you hostage."
"You are! Otherwise, why wouldn't you bring me back to my friends?"
I wanted to lunge at him but decided against it. He was much more powerful than I am.
"You are right. Attacking me would be a really bad idea. We won't return you to your friends because then Itzel will try to get you. She probably noticed your disappearance because she is always watching you. If you return, she will put two to two together and realize you met us. Then she will try to take you out before you try to stop her."
I felt a small pit at the bottom of my stomach. I won't be able to see my friends again, or I will be killed. Not only was I running from The Leader, but I was also running from one of The Elite and trying hard not to get killed. Why was everything that hard? Why couldn't I just spend those five years without anything bad happening.
This whole thing was getting worse by the second. I just wanted it all to be over. It began quickly, so why wouldn't it end quickly. I missed my home. I missed the screaming of my little sister when she didn't get what she wanted. I missed the sound of my father's old car parking in the garage. I miss my mom's shouts for me to set the table. I regretted how I reacted to all those things. I was not appreciative and I wasn't good either. I promised myself that when I return back to my world, I would change. I just hoped I would go back. I really wanted to see my parents one last time. When I left for the trip, my goodbye wasn't exactly lovely. I felt tears streaming down my eyes and I really didn't mind it. I used to hate crying in front of people but now, I only hate one thing. The only thing I hate is this whole universe that has problems, bad situations, and things I have never experienced before.
"Hey, you will make it back to your world. We will protect you at whatever cost," Alon said as he turned around.
His voice was now soothing and a bit said, unlike the cold one he talked with when she met him. His eyes stopped changing color and were now black as coal.
"How do you know? I haven't even spent two months here and already things are spiraling down. I just wish I never saw that portal," I sobbed.
"You would have come here anyway. It is your destiny. You are meant to be here at this time. It is true you might think it is all bad at first but trust me, it gets better when you get used to it. Now dry off your tears and let us go meet the man behind all of this."
His eyes returned back to changing colors, as he turned back around and started walking. I used the sleeves of my green sweater to dry off my tears. If my only way of going back to my world was to destroy the evil force, and stop Itzel. Then I would do everything in my power to achieve it.
