The words hit me hard. They kept repeating in my head over and over again. "This is all my fault. This is all my fault" a voice in my head kept repeating. Skyla warned me from following the whispers. She told me we should leave the matter alone so we won't get in trouble. She didn't want any of this. She just wanted a safe trip with her friends. Even after all of this, she was the one to pay for my mistake. Maybe I shouldn't have been that stubborn. Maybe I just should've listened to her.

"Silena are you okay," Mayla's voice cut through my thoughts.

"Did you find anything that could lead us to them," I asked, trying to cling to the last grain of hope I had left.

"Nothing. The trail we were following was for an injured animal," Cyan replied.

"So what do we do now," Aaren asked weakly.

"Continue searching of course," I said.

"We shouldn't be staying out here. The original plan was to move away from the borders so I think we should stick to the plan," Mayla suggested.

"You want us to escape and abandon Skyla and Cyrus," I asked in surprise.

"No of course not. We just have to stay safe in order to do that. We won't be any help to them if we get captured or die," Mayla added.

What she said kind of made since but I just felt that if I leave now....I will be abandoning them.

"So we can take votes about it," Mayla said.

"I am in favor," Aaren said.

We all looked at Cyan. His decision will sum it up. He was staring at the horizon and looked deep in thought. I felt bad for him. His best -only- friend was missing. He probably felt what I felt right now.

"We are going to find them soon. There is also a possibility that they would find us. My point is, we won't give up until we find them.....I promise," I said soothingly.

"I am with Mayla. Go to the hollow trees now and I will follow you in a few seconds," Cyan finally replied. For the first time, he wasn't talking to us in his usually snarky way.

"And how exactly can I push those two alone," Mayla asked.

"You should probably use one of your hands for each make-shift wagon since you have two hands," Cyan replied.

And the snark was back.

"I have a better idea, how about I leave Aaren with you here and take Silena back with me. I am sure you too will get along well," Mayla replied in a sarcastic tone.

"Ugh. Fine I will come," Cyan grumbled.

After this, we returned back to the hollow trees and got some of the stuff we needed and started heading away from them and into the unknown.

After walking for a long time, we found a good spot and built two big tents with leaves. One was for the girls and the other was for the boys. We took turns patrolling the area to make sure none of the savage creatures attacked us. When we woke up, Mayla and Cyan went out and continued searching for Skyla and Cyrus while Aaren and I stayed at camp and rested. It was the same thing for the next few days, Mayla and Cyan coming back empty-handed and me trying to assure myself that everything was going to be okay. After a week and two day (I was counting) we gave up hope. Mayla and Cyan have scoured every single spot of the forest ( at least, the ones they can reach ) and haven't found anything. Today was the day of the final search. If they don't find anything, we won't try again.
