Athena was currently plucking a few herbs that had fully grown even in the harsh weather, she felt proud of the plants that she had grown over a few weeks.
Riley was sat down waiting for her cousin to finish as she didn't have anything else to do, Athena had banned her from bringing the book as she was pretty sure the girl had memorised it by now off by heart.
"You know, in the olden days they would've thought you were a witch from collecting all these herbs, especially because if you don't cook or wash these properly, they can inflict quite a lot of damage" Riley spoke from her 'grounding' step as she held a light blue umbrella over her head to help with the rain, Athena almost laughed at the girls statement.
Athena was walking around with just leggings and t-shirt, claiming to have loved the rain, even proving it as she did a small twirl when they first exited the house, she was born and raised in Forks, so the weather didn't phase her as much as it did Riley.
"Don't you feel weird that we both live near a dark forest that were forbidden to go in to because of all the dangerous animals, I mean logically why would they even place houses next to it?" Riley questioned as her fist held onto the umbrella tighter, she wasn't exactly built for the cold even if she did find it pretty, Athena felt bad for the shaking girl.
"Just think about all the cute or fascinating things that are in there, instead of all the rare dangerous ones" Athena shrugged it off as she ripped the roots off of an unlabelled herb, she had her garden memorised, "that should be the..."
"The damn garlic hasn't done yet, I'd give it another two weeks.." Athena muttered angrily to herself.
When Riley had left, Athena was left to her pure boredom, strolling around the house. Her parents were off on a business trip or something and so she was left to the normally quiet house all alone, not that she wasn't used to it.
Her herbs had been shoved into their own little jars that rested on her shelves in her room, she had a strange collection that she liked to make numerous things with, like teas and food, others just looked pretty in her room.
After she had shoved those away she decided to put off her homework and walk around the room instead, dancing out of pure boredom as her brain searched for something to do.
And she found herself in the attack of her parents house, smiling at all the toys from when she was a child, back when her parents didn't work as much and they'd at least spend a week a month with her.
She moved on to some old shoe boxes and her eyes furrowed as she caught sight of an old, leather box that had a lock on it, it was unlike any lock she had ever seen before and so she let curiosity get the better of her as she grabbed the box and began to walk down the ladder again.
When she reached her room, she threw the box onto the bed, grabbing any she could to try and open it up. She had tried to use a pin, a hair pin, a paper clip that she had bent to try and fit it in. She had been tired to grab a nail and hammer to break it off, but she couldn't seem to get it open.
Athena threw it onto her desk with a sigh and sat in front of it, "why won't you just open!" She screamed at it, and suddenly, it unlocked itself without any known force. Athena sat back with wide eyes as she realised what had just happened. "What the f-"
