sugawara froze when he saw oikawa standing near the school gates. he was leaning against the wall fashionably with his arms crossed and the usual smirk he wore.

sugawara was sure no one had noticed oikawa yet.

oikawa on the other hand looked looked away as soon as his eyes met sugwara's, his face transformed into a stoic one looking at him one last time before facing the other away.

sugawara almost, almost got teary eyed at that small rejection.

what was i hoping for anyways?

he'll just have to pretend as if he didn't see him. oikawa seemed such as he wanted to pull off something surprising, it would be a bummer if sugawara destroyed it.

does he really have to do that leaning on the wall thing looking all cocky? i can feel the waves of second hand embarrassment slapping my face.

sugawara sighed looking away paying attention to what daichi said.

"-but frankly if we were facing seijoh and oikawa in an all-out match, we'd be lacking"

'-specially without our ace and libero not being here' sugawara wanted to add. he doubted the first years even knew that the team had those.

nishinoya's suspension will end soon and asahi-

"i'm gonna go to the bus to help shimizu" sugawara excused himself getting the other's attention too.

daichi nodded while tanaka glared at him a child like pout evident on his face "don't steal kiyoko-san from me like that sugawara-san!"

sugawara squinted his eyes at the yell. he really wanted to sleep now.

"i'm just tired tanaka, she's all yours" he stated looking down when he felt oikawa's gaze fall onto him, refusing to budge. he quickened his pace feeling small in front of oikawa getting out of the school finally where the bus stood. now all he has to do is sle-

"sugawara-san! where's sugawara-san!? oh captain your here too, good thing! akiro got into a fist fight with shikatora senpai-"

without a single thought the boy turned away from the bus speed walking to yahaba who sighed in relief when he saw the older boy.

"sugawara-san! kyotani told me to get you saying you'll be able to stop-"

"he's still in the gym right?" sugawara asked a little desperate trying his best to not panic.

daichi turned to ennoshita worried about his friend "ennoshita, please lead everyone to the bus and inform takeda-sensie about this right now, i'll go with sugawara if it takes long leave we'll walk b-"

"i'll stay with sugawara-san, you can leave with the team everyone seems exhausted including you"
