okay maybe sugawara regretted letting tanaka be the first one to tell about changing schools.

not only did tanaka cry and yell at him through the phone the day before but also had a breakdown as soon as he saw sugawara at practice.

sugawara was drowning in guilt while the others were trying to console him worried asking what's wrong.

tanaka never cried. ever.

and that was enough for sugawara to realise how important it would be to his friends.

he had people who cares for him.

"ryu come on dude! tell us what's wrong!" nishinoya shook the boys shoulders on the verge of tears himself.

"i- guys um" sugawara butted in walking a little closer to them.

"it's- he's uh crying because of something i told him about last night" he awkwardly explained fiddling with his hands.

"did something happen to waru?" daichi asked worried.

sugawara could hear hinata ask kageyama who's waru.

"he's- he's completely fine it's just- uh- um-" did he really have to suck at words at the wrong timing? his mind was all blank and the teams distressed looks weren't making it any better.

"suga-san is transferring schools" tanaka spoke out of blue letting out a sob at the end of the sentence, his hand was covering his eyes again.

"what?"

"huh? you're an idiot tanaka it's obviously a prank!"

"guys i- it's not" sugawara made a mental note to thank tanaka later.

"i- my mom wants me to change schools cause- well i don't really know why. but i- yeah i'll have to leave i tried to talk to her but- she didn't really-"

"you've got to be kidding me koushi" daichi stared at him not trusting any of his words.

everyone did actually.

and that made sugawara feel small and scared. as if he had let out something he was never supposed to. the dear of losing everyone was more than quick to click in.

"i'm sorry" he heard himself say but he felt hazy. his head was spinning and his iron deficiency kicked in as well.

he snapped out when he felt himself being pulled in a hug.

"hey no no you don't cry too" he couldn't figure out who said that- wait he's crying?

"suga? suga? suga!" he finally snapped out looking at daichi who was right infront of him.

"calm down, no one's mad at you" he reassured hoping the boy would lossen up.

"i really tried daichi- she just-"

"i know i know it's fine" daichi pulled him into a hug.

sugawara felt more arms wrapped around him. he heard hinata yelling at the rest of the first years to stop being awkward beanpoles and join the hug. he could hear nishinoya wailing and a few more sniffs. from afar he could tell kiyoko was on the verge of crying too.

more tears slid down sugawara's face. he couldn't believe he made all his friends cry.
