Maddie couldn't take it. The humiliation was too much. Knowing that Scarlett never came, the girls took the piss out of her. Teasing her on and on and on. Maddie just wanted to scream at them all and shout that they were all wrong. But she herself wasn't even sure. They could be right. Scarlett may never come and collect her. She didn't know. Maddie lay awake that night silently sobbing. She didn't know what to do. She couldn't bear staying her but there was no where else to go.

Actually. Yes there was. Just as Maddie was on the verge of another crying fit she remembered.

Scarletts house. She wouldn't be there, Maddie knew she was in LA, but she had keys. Hopefully no one else would be there either but before she had time to contemplate she got up. Reaching for her rucksack that she had packed for the plane she silently slipped out the apartment. Knowing better, Maddie quickly got a taxi to the house instead of walking. Although it was a lot, she'd rather spend money than be abducted.
Maddie stood in front of the house. It looked dead . No lights shone from the inside. The curtains were drawn shut and the soul of the house seemed dark. Opening the gate, she made her way up the path and gently opened the door. Peeking inside it was lifeless. There wasn't Lizzie to open the door or Scarlett to make you breakfast. Or even Rose to wake you up at the crack of dawn. She felt a tear slide down her cheek as she stepped inside.
Maddie quickly ran upstairs - not wanting to check the rest of the house for the fear of demons - and jumped into bed. Safely tucked away under the covers she was asleep in seconds, still with the humiliation playing on her mind.
