chapter thirty nine - resuce pt 3

Scarlett immediately jumped into the back seat waving the for sale poster, almost squishing lizzie as chris swiftly pulled out back onto the main road. The car swerved around on the road before finally pulling into the correct lane and heading straight for the city.
"Where to!?" The windows were open and they were going so fast that Chris had to shout over the wind to make himself heard. "Where are we going!?"
"605 East Waterworks Drive, St. George!!!" Scarlett grabbed her phone, jabbed the adress into maps and shoved it towards Chris "DRIVE!"

"ummm scar" She heard a little voice from beneath her. Scarlett looked down and realised she was sitting in Lizzie's lap. When she was jumping into the car Scarlett had thought she had a managed to avoid sitting in Lizzie's lap, but obviously not...
"Shit sorry! i'll get off now" Scarlett delicately climbed off Lizzie's lap leaving her blushing and muttering an apology. Scarlett quickly glanced at the blushing girl before darting her eyes away from Lizzie and focusing back into reality.

"HEY UM CHRIS. CAN YOU CLOSE THE WINDOW!" Scarlett shouted
"WHATT?!"
"THE WINDOW!"
"OH YEAH SURE!"
Once the window was shut, Scarlett fell into deep thought. She thought about Maddie mainly. And Rose. She hadn't seen her in so long! She was thinking about Maddie and Lynn. Maddie and Rose. Maddie. Loki. How the minute she could, she would adopt Maddie. Scarlett didn't care what the others thought, she wasn't losing her again.
On the other side of the car, Lizzie was thinking very similar thoughts. Mainly Maddie again. The last few days, Lizzie had tried to stay strong for Scarlett but if they didn't find her today, she wouldn't know what she'd do. She couldn't stay strong forever.

About ten minutes later, the car pulled up outside a cat rescue centre and the trio jumped out the car and ran into the brightly coloured adoption centre. Scarlett immediately ran up to the desk and shoved the for sale poster down, demanding an answer.
"Who gave this cat in?...WHO!?"
Behind the desk, sat a very star struck teenager. Her eyes wide in shock of seeing Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson and Elizabeth Olsen burst into the cat shelter. She was only covering this shift for a another employee and all of a sudden her three idols had appeared.
"Hello??" Scarlett impatiently waved her hand in front of the dumbstruck girl.
"Sorry...uh...what was the...sorry what did you ask?"
"Who handed this cat in?"
"I don't think I can disclose...um..that...uh...information sorry" The girl said timidly, terrified that she'd get shouted at by this insane version of Scarlett Johansson.
"You can't disclose...you—"Luckily before Scarlett could finish her sentence, Lizzie quickly jumped in to avoid any unmeant words being said.
"Hi. Hello...Freya" Lizzie said squinting at the girls badge "Im sorry for my friend here she's a bit...desperate" She said whilst trying to restrain Scarlett. Lizzie motioned for Chris to come and get Scarlett before carrying on with what she was saying. "Sorry as I was saying, she's a bit desperate and exhausted at the moment. The thing is, we've just travelled nine hours looking for her daughter and it seems like we've got a clue at where she might be and you telling us who gave this cat in would help a lot. The information would help because the cat used to be her daughters and we're worried that the family she's trapped with gave him in"
"Oh um I'm sorry for your...loss..." Freya said cautiously "and yeah...I'm...I think...I'm sure we can find some more information on this cat here. Give me five minutes"
"Okay thank you very much"

Lizzie turned away from the desk, leaving the poster there so Freya could reference it, and walked over to Scarlett and Chris who were seated in some plastic chairs against the wall.
"You can't just run in here and demand information babe. People are gonna be terrified" lizzie whispered to Scarlett in amusement as she sat down in the chair next to Chris.
"I know...I know I was just excited" Scarlett said rolling her eyes and smiling. "We may have found her guys. We may have actually found Maddie!"
"Scar it's literally been two nights" Chris said.
Scarlett hit Chris on the shoulder playfully but hard. "And!?? God you just don't understand do you! Ugh men" she said rolling her eyes in annoyance.

A few minutes passed as Chris and Scarlett bickered and Lizzie just sat there amused. The atmosphere had definitely changed in the last half an hour knowing that they were close to finding Maddie. Knowing that maybe tomorrow they'd all be home and the last few days would be in the past and would never need to be thought about again.
Scarlett and Chris stopped bickering when they heard the young girl clear her throat and calling them over.
"So, we've actually got the cat here today in the back. I believe he's called Loki?"
"Yes" the three said in unison.
"Good! Atleast we've got the right cat. Would you like me to go and get him?"
"Yes" the trio said in unison again. They all chuckled as Freya disappeared through a door, emerging a few moments later with Loki in his cat carrier.
"Loki!" Scarlett gently took his cage from Freya and scooped the cat out cuddling him tight to her heart and letting a few tears run down her nose into his fur. "We've got you now baby. We've got you and now we're gonna go find Mads yeah. I've bet you've missed her" Scarlett whispered into his head.
"Well, you both seem happy to be reunited, and now would you like the address from where he came from?"
Scarlett nodded vigorously as she placed Loki back in his carrier, listening intently to Freya.
"Okay...let me just check to be sure...yep..okay so the address is [adress] and the people are called the fredricksons"
"Omg thank you so so much I can't thank you enough Freya. Really thank you" Scarlett said emotionally clutching Loki's carrier in one hand and Chris' hand for support in the other.
"No problem guys and I hope you find your daughter!"
"So do we" Lizzie said smiling at Freya before holding the door open so Chris and Scarlett could leave.

Once in the car, Lizzie sat in the drivers seat and typed the address of the Fredricksons before pulling out of the car park and back onto the road.
"One down. One to go" Chris said with a chuckle.
"Yep and then we can finally go home" a very tired and emotional Scarlett said.
The car sped along the highway before turning off into one of the neighbourhoods. The sun was just beginning to set behind the hills so the houses windows were reflecting an orange hue off them all making it feel very atmospheric. Looking around carefully, Lizzie slowed the car down as they got closer to the exact neighbourhood, just incase she saw anyone that looked like Maddie.
As they rounded the corner, all of a sudden Scarlett spotted something out the corner of her eyes.
"STOP THE CAR!" She screeched at Lizzie before looking more closely out of the window.
Walking down the sunset lit pavement, Maddie and Willow drearily stumbled along, carrying about four bags with tired faces and slumped shoulders.
They had finally found her.

Last rescue chapter ahhhh. They've found her!!! Yayyy!!
Also i messed up the time in the last few chapters and I think I said they'd arrive in Utah at around 9pm but actually they've arrived at around six meaning it's not totally night yet. :)
ALSO when Lizzie says "babe" to Scarlett that's just in like a friend way. I don't think I'm gonna get Scarlett with anyone atm :)
