The sky grew darker the more they drove. The sun was setting slowly behind them as the car sped down the pretty much empty road. Chris was driving again but luckily he hadn't been driving the whole time, they had all taken turns and as they were in the final hour, the order had come back to Chris. Lizzie and Scarlett were asleep in the back, leaning against each other with their heads resting on each other's shoulders.
"Hey guys" Chris whispered. "Guys.."
Chris reached behind him to gently shake Scarletts knee which made the car swerve waking the, both up.
"Woahhhh Chris keep your eyes on the road!" Lizzie said, snapping her eyes opening and gripping Scarletts thigh tightly.
"I was until you too wouldn't wake up!"
Scarlett rolled her eyes at the constant bickering. The whole way here they had been taking little digs at each other and as much as she loved them both all she wanted to do was find Maddie.
"How much longer until we're there?" Scarlett croaked out
"About half an hour but first we need to grab some more petrol"
Lizzie and Scarlett both groaned in annoyance. They were so close and they now had to stop for fuel!?
"I'm sorry but we're gonna need to make it back aren't we!"
"Suppose" Scarlett muttered.

Maddie's sobs filled the room as she blindly stumbled out of bed and across the room, double checking every place she could think of hoping Loki would maybe be fast asleep tucked away at the back. No luck.
Still sobbing, Maddie sat down in the middle of the room and gave up. He was no where to be found and she had no hope of getting him back. With tears still running down her cheeks, Maddie heard a thunder of feet coming up the stairs and along the hallways: the kids were back from school. No one was even aware she was in here. No one would know what Jenny had done. And the worst part was, tomorrow that would be her. Getting back from her first day at another school and having to act like everything was okay.
The hall had fallen quiet again, most likely because everyone was now in their own rooms, until Maddie heard a key in her door. Jenny was back. Maddie scampered off the floor and ran to the far corner of the room, cowering in the corner of the room awaiting another round of screaming and punishment.

However, instead of the absolute physcopath entering the room, two different figures came into the room and peered around in the dim light.
"Maddie?" The pair whispered "You in here?"
"Yeah im here" Maddie stood up, a bit humiliated that she was crouched in the corner. She quickly wiped her eyes and peered back at the two anonymous figures. "Willow, Rowan?" She asked in shock. "You're...why....what are you doing here?" She stuttered.
Before either could answer, Willow ran up to her and pulled Maddie into a hug which completely took her by surprise.
"I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. We're gonna get you out" she whispered into her ear comfortingly.
"You are?" Maddie's voice broke as she relaxed deeper into Willows shoulder. Willow hugged Maddie tighter as she let out all her fear and confusion tears into her shoulder. Although Willow was only thirteen, she was about 5'6 so Maddie was actually smaller than her (5'4) and she was the perfect hug height. Rowan stood off to the side, making sure no one would enter the room, letting the two girls embrace and share soothing words.
As they pulled apart, Willow glanced at Rowan allowing him to explain what was happening.
"To begin with we managed to steal the key from Jenny and that's how we're here. Also, second, what you did was not wrong at all don't worry but she has a thing about phones. She guilt trips us and she makes big deals out of things when you first come here and then does a big apology and 'cleanses' us and all that shit. Us two came here at about the same time so have grown closer from what we went through together. However I promise I'm gonna sort it all out.....but for now..." He said glancing out the door "we need to go"
The trio heard Benjis voice float up the stairs so Maddie and willow immediately grabbed the bags (Maddie actually hadn't unpacked yet although she had told them she had which was lucky) and together they rushed out the door. On their way out, Rowan shoved a block into Maddie's hand and she looked down to see her phone - with about a thousand text messages from everyone.
Seeing as it was early evening, most of the lights were off meaning a dusking light was settled over the house, making it easier for them to sneak down the back staircase and out the back door. Once in the evening air, Maddie and willow started to run down the driveway to the gate. The bags hammered against their backs and legs but they continues to run. They needed to get out as quickly as possible. After reaching about halfway they realised that Rowan wasn't following.
"Rowan" Maddie hissed quietly.
"Rowan. Are you coming with us?"
Sadly he shook his head and whisper shouted back at them "I can't. I've got to look after the others, be safe and please stick to the main roads. Good luck!"
Willow desperately flitted her eyes between the gate and Rowan. She wanted to leave so bad but she couldn't bear to depart from him. They had grown so close in this hell hole and now they may never see each other again.
"Willow...we need to go" Maddie said quietly.
"But...but..."
"I know I know. Cmon" Maddie guided the teary eyed Willow down the driveway and out onto the pavement.

Meanwhile, Chris' car pulled up at the gas station as Scarlett jumped out the car to fill the tank. Lizzie swore on her life that the smell of petrol made her vomit and Chris had just completely refused to get out the car so that left Scarlett to be the one to fill up the tank. Huffing in annoyance, Scarlett walked round to the back of the car and grabbed the pump, allowing petrol to pour into the vehicle. She stood there for a few minutes waiting for it to fill up whilst gazing absent mindedly into the distance. Once the tank was filled up, Scarlett quickly walked over to the little building to pay. She wanted to get out of here as quickly as possible mainly because she wanted to find Maddie but also because the fear of paparazzi was always in the back of her mind - even if they were in a small city in Utah at about 9pm.
Scarlett stepped into the store and picked up a few candy bars and drinks before turning round to pay. Whilst leaving, Scarlett glanced at the glass door and saw a poster. Taking a close look at it, she saw a very familiar looking cat advertised for sale. A very familiar cat actually.
Almost forgetting all her previous tiredness she ripped the poster down from the door and sprinted over to the car screaming at the top of her lungs.
"WE'VE FOUND HER! WE'VE GOR A CLUE! ITS LOKI! WE'RE IN THE RIGHT PLACE! WE MAY ACTUALLY HAVE A CHANCE OF GETTING HER BACK!"
