Simisola_
I wake up in the morning feeling weak. My eyes are red and my head feels like a rock fell on it.
"Aww." I groaned as I tried to stand up. I walk to the bathroom and take my bath. I felt better afterwards. As I searched for what to wear, I hear a little sound from behind me. It seemed like a rat was cutting a wire somewhere in my room. I turn around and my eyes fell on the teddy bear Jade gave me weeks ago.
Holy Christ!
I don't bother looking for the rat anymore. I pick the teddy bear up.
When someone ask me things I loved, I always added teddy bears to the list because most teenage girls in movies love them, maybe. I think if I really love teddy bears as I always say, I wouldn't have ignored this cute little thing for weeks.
My door cracks open, i thought it was dad but then Jade enters, fully dressed in her school uniform.
"OMG, you were thinking about me, weren't you?" She asked. "That's why I gave you this teddy bear, so that you'll think about me more often, like anytime you see it."
I gave her a tight smile. If only she knew I haven't touched it after that day.
"Simi, aren't you going to school? You look horrible. Why did you leave school yesterday?"
"Because I was sick." I tell her.
"I know you weren't but i have gist for you, anyway."
"Shoot."
"I think Mide was stalking me. He got my number from my Facebook account and called me last night, can you imagine?" She asked and I shrugged.
"In the middle of our discussion, he mentioned that you're mad at him. I know he's a stupid boy but you should forgive him."
"You don't know." I shake my head. "You don't know how stupid he is."
"Ahn, Calm down." She laughed. "Tell me what he did, I'll definitely hit him on the forehead with my mother's frying pan." She joked but at a moment, she realized I wasn't joking.
Tears had begin to run down my eyes as the memories of yesterday hit me.
She didn't ask me for details anymore, she just hugged me. "I got you, Simi. I do." She said.
"I'm so used to making everyone happy, I forgot I have feelings also. It's my fault everyone is acting like that. They've forgotten I have feelings too. Is it because I don't break down in front of others? Because I'm always the one giving advices and standing strong, right? Y'all think I can't feel?" I asked her.
"You're human and you can feel. I'm sorry, I got you." She says, holding me tighter.
"Alright, alright." I say releasing myself from her grip and bursting into laughter as I wiped my tears. "You're making me feel so vulnerable and I hate it." I say.
"You see, that's the problem with you Princess Simisola Oluwatofunmi, you love to act like an iron lady until we believe you're one."
Ignoring what she just said but mentally nodding, i got up. "You better start going to school now or you'll be late."
"You're aren't going to school? You can't be serious oh. I came to drag you to school. Start preparing."
"Look Jade, I don't want to go to school today. I don't feel it."
"Look too Simi, I don't even have time for these banters. The earlier, the better for us."
"I don't.., I can't, I just can't." I said, sitting on the bed and hugging my teddy bear tighter.
