Simisola_

"Hey Simi, wait for me!!" Mide called out to me.

I nodded, exchanging my bag from one arm to the other as I waited for Mide to walk up to me.

"Hey, you've been avoiding me." He said as we walked towards the gate.

"I'm not avoiding you." I replied.

"You sat with Jadé today. You ate lunch alone. You didn't even say hi." He complained.

"I needed time to think, okay?" I deadpanned.

"Oh." He said blankly. "You done thinking now?"

      "Yeah, I guess."

"Is your dad coming to pick you up?" Mide asked as soon as we got to the school garage.

"He closes from work at four, you know. He can't keep taking breaks to come pick me up so I'd just use the bus."

        "Oh."

"Yeah, oh." I said too.

"Do you want to talk about it?" Mide asked after some minutes of standing in silence and waiting for the seniors school bus to arrive.

"Talk about what?" I stared at him.

"Your mood is kinda off right now and I don't know what is wrong with you."

After some seconds of thinking, I demanded we sat down.

There were benches in the school garage where students sit down to wait for the school bus if he's delaying like this. Mide and I sat on an empty bench. I was glad that it was just two of us occupying the bench.

    I cleared throat.

"Mide, I feel horrible about myself."

        "Babe?" Mide called calmly.

"I'm ashamed of myself. I can't believe I even thought about blackmailing someone."

"But you aren't gonna do it anymore, right?"

"I won't. I hope you aren't looking at me some kind of way right now? Because I was just being stupid."

"Don't call yourself stupid. Everyone makes mistakes and you didn't even do it sef so stop feeling like this and I'm not looking at you any kind of way. You are still the bestest friend ever." He said calmly again.

He hugged me tightly admidst stares from our school mates. Everyone knows Mide and I have been best friends right from Jss 2.

    "How do you feel now?"

"Better, I guess." I sighed.

"Hey, let's go over to mine." He proposed.

      "Sure." I smiled. "Where's Eni?"

"She didn't come today, she's not feeling fine."

"Ah, but she was okay last night na." I said.

"Yeah." He shrugged. "she developed fever today."

The bus arrived after about five minutes. Everyone stood up and walked towards the bus. The driver apologized to us and he explained that he is just coming back from ogun state.

"If it's the other driver, he would have been abusing us on top of his lateness." One fair girl said.

I couldn't agree more. The second driver Is a grumpy old man that loves insulting students, I don't even know..
