It was a dark and gloomy day in Konoha, the rain was pattering down the roof mixed with the rumbling sound of thunder. It was the only thing (Y/N) could hear as she tried to enjoy her book while sipping tea.
(Y/N)'s finger traced the delicate page of the book she just bought and read the first line: 'Akai Ito' also known as the 'Red String of Faith.'
"The red string of faith is old folklore about how the gods tie an invisible string around the little finger between two people that are destined to be soul mates and will one day marry each other. The two people connected by the red thread are destined lovers, regardless of time, place, or circumstance. The string can be twisted, knotted, and stretch but it will never break, no matter what."
The woman can't help but scoff, she was shaking her head at her book, "Stupid gods." She muttered under her breath bitterly.
"This is nonsense." She shut her book close and on queue, the front door opened almost making her jump.
Entering the house, was a certain raven-haired man. His hair was dripping wet, his red armour was glistening, soaked with rain and maybe even blood.
"I'm home," Madara announced, using his teeth to take his gloves off before tossing it aside and working to take off his armour.
"Welcome home." (Y/N) greeted walking towards him to help him off his armour, "You must be tired, I've already made dinner. Do you want me to run you a bath?" His wife asked picking up the soaking clothes.
"Please." Madara sighed, running his fingers over his damp hair.
(Y/N) ran a bath for him and a few minutes later Madara soaked in the wooden tub with his head laid back, eyes closed letting the warm water relax his muscles, it has been a long day for him. His wife was sitting at the edge of the tub, her fingers were gently caressing the water, popping every bubble she could see.
Madara could hear the water splashing, "If you want to join me, you could." He spoke without opening his eyes.
(Y/N) didn't say anything, she just kept her eyes on the water and carried on with what she was doing.
Cracking an eye open, Madara looked at his wife who had blank look on her face. "You're oddly quiet today."
(Y/N) looked at Madara's face, he was handsome and stoic as always. She opened her mouth to speak, her mouth hung open for a few seconds but she closed it and decided not to say anything.
Three weeks. Madara has been out fighting in the war for three weeks straight. Over that period, Madara didn't send her a letter to let her know what he's been doing, how was he or how much he misses her. (Y/N) found it odd because Madara always sent her a letter whenever he was away from home and it made her worry.
(Y/N) wasn't worried because she was afraid her husband would die in battle. She knew Madara was strong, he could easily take down an entire nation with or without Hashirama by his side.
She was worried because he was fighting along with Mito, the Uzumaki with the flaming red hair, pale skin and one of the strongest kunoichi in their era. She was worried that since they've been fighting together in the war and he was far from home, Madara would eventually fall in love with Mito and come to a realisation that he picked the wrong girl to marry.
It's not that she didn't trust Madara, it was just things like this could happen. Mito was a goddess and she was better at her with everything, although she didn't like to compare herself to her she can't help it.
"I'll go ahead and prepare your dinner." (Y/N) said and left before Madara could reply.
After preparing a plate of food for Madara, she fumbled around the kitchen to keep herself busy.
