The ground was rocky and dead. Dead grass, rocks covered in moss, you name it. The place was known to be of deadly rumors, but some of them were true. Most people found these places fearful and dark, so not many people were brave enough to pass through the wilted forest.
One girl was brave enough though. In fact, she had been here before. There was only a slit of fear running through her. She knew which way to go to get to the border, but her only concern was getting across the border.
As she neared the tall wall of broken down bricks, she knew another adventure was to come close. The girl smiled, and started to run through the dead forest. As she got closer and closer to the border, everything started getting more colorless and dark. The brown grass turned to grey, and the trees turned into tree trunks. She knew she was heading the right way. If she was going the wrong way, the nature around wouldn't be dying.
Soon, she was at the tall wall. It was covered in old moss from over the years, and decaying more and more everyday. However, it had stayed up because of the black sawdust. It was actually Shadow dust, which came from the place she was heading to. The Shadow Realm.
She stopped and stared up at the towering circular wall, which surrounded the entire dark landscape. I have to get their attention. There was only one was into the Shadow Realm, and that was with the shadow aura. Of course, only those of the Shadow Realm had it, and the girl definitely did not.
She needed a shadow to make a portal for her to get in. The teenager smiled, and ran to the nearest tree stump. She climbed onto the stump, and looked around at the other tree stumps. The teenager pointed at one of the stumps a distance away, and a blast of light came out of her finger. It shot the tree stump and knocked it down.
She smirked. Hopefully that'll work. She jumped down from the stump, and headed back to the wall. She got closer and closer to the wall until she was only inches away from its dirty bricks. The teen took a few steps back, and kicked the wall.
Soon, a black swirl appeared from the wall. It was tall, but second by second, it was getting bigger. A person with ashy skin came out of the portal. Their skin color faded into a black around their knees, and disappeared into her shadow.
The girl didn't seem surprised at all, and was rather impatient. ¨Get in,¨ The shadow scowled. The girl didn't seem the least frightened, and walked into the portal without a problem.
Inside the portal was like a dizzying tunnel. Black, blue, and purple were swirling around the girls. The girl covered her eyes to shield herself from the lights. The shadow scoffed in disgust.
¨What a crybaby.¨
The traveler looked back and scowled. ¨I'd like to see you try.¨
Shadows were never affected from the lights in the portal. In fact, their shadow aura made the lights look really dim. The traveling girl stared at the end of the blinding shadow portal. There was a pitch black hole at the end. She shuddered for the first time, finally feeling some fear in her.
The Shadow Realm was one of the scariest places. Many myths and legends were told about the place, and soon the entire land itself became nothing more than part of those stories. But most of those stories started out as true events, until the people changed it up to sound more adventuring.
The girl ran towards the black hole. It was the only way out of the portal. If she stayed in it any longer, she might've gone blind. She kept running until the lights started flashing. She had to cover her eyes, close them shut.
When she finally got to the end of the portal, she stopped, stared at the hole of darkness, and then proceeded over to the other side. As soon as she reached the Shadowlands, she squinted her eyes to get them adjusted. Everything seemed pitch black to her until after a minute or two.
She was in a hall with dim lights and eerie creaks. She knew the place by heart. The girl had been here countless times and had even gotten stuck here for five years. The place gave her chills, for it was the Night Palace.
She wanted to run back and leave, but she knew that there was no turning back. The girl closed her eyes, and took a deep breath. The girl imagined being back in her safe place and hanging out with her friends. The thought made her miss the old days. But she didn't have time to mope. She opened her eyes, and began to walk forward down the darkening hall.
The girl shuddered at the thoughts of this place. The hall was extremely chilling, cold, and eerie. She remembered these halls, but she wished she didn't. As the end of the hall seemed to be getting closer, she gulped.
At the very end of the hall, there was a tall black door. It was the meeting room, which was where the girl was heading. She ran down the hall, wanting to get this over with. When she got to the door, she knocked.
¨Get in!¨ A manś voice barked.
The girl opened the door with a hesitant hand. As it creaked open, she saw him. He had wild black hair, and large dark eyes. He didn't have any pupils, and it was one of the scariest things about him. He had a torn, grey cloak over a blue shirt. He wore dark pants, too. All of the colors on him were dark, except for the white gloves he wore. The man was sitting down in a chair that was pulled up to a brown wooden table. The teenager gulped, and sat across from him in another chair.
¨I finished your task, ma-¨
¨Don't play dumb. You failed.¨ The man said sternly.
¨Failed?¨ The girl asked.
¨You can't be serious. Are you deaf or just dumb?¨
¨Excuse me! I worked hard to fulfill your missions!¨
¨I don't care. It doesn't matter.¨
¨Just give the next mission.¨
¨Forget it! It's over!¨ The man yelled.
His words shocked the girl. ¨What?! Y-You can't do that!¨ The girl said.
¨Well, I just did. Deal with it.¨
¨I can't deal with it. If the citizens realize that I'm alone, do you know what'll happen?¨
¨I don't care. Now, if you don't leave I'm going to have to force you out.¨
¨Master- let me prove myself. I-I can do it.¨ She pleaded. He didn't care.
¨Haven't I made myself clear? Get out, or else!¨
¨B-but I have to! Give me a chance!¨
¨No!¨ There was a long tension between the two, and the girl had to plan her next move. She knew it was pointless, but somehow thought that arguing about it would solve their relationship. A sigh of agony came out of the man. ¨One chance. One week. Get it right.¨
A smirk came from the girl. ¨Great. What's the plan?¨
