My Promise

We all met back in the family room. Hope was playing with her new toys the babies were on their play mat playing with their toys. The adults were drinking, talking and laughing. Dee and I were in and out of the kitchen making sure dinner was running smoothly. First Christmas dinner I didn't want to ruin it.

I was sorting out the potatoes and Damon wrapped his arms around my waist he kissed up my neck to my jaw. "I'm cooking." I tell him. "I'm kissing." He said back. I couldn't help but smile at his annoyingness. "We could go upstairs?" He whispered to me. "We have guests." "20 minutes... they won't even notice." He tells me. 

"No Damon." "Why?" "It's christmas." Exactly... live a little." "No." I said firmly. "Fine." He moved away from me. "Because I said no I don't get cuddles? Real mature." "Just making sure nothing accidentally happens, taking all the precautions." "Take you precautions to the turkey in the oven." I tell him. "Yes my dear." I rolled my eyes, he was being his usual sarcastic self. "How do I know if it's done?" "Well is is flying about in there?" "Funny." I chuckled to myself before wiping my hands on the apron I was wearing that protected my dress from any spills. I looked into the oven..."It's pretty much done... you could carve it up and start plating... Everything else is done." I tell him. 

"We're not hosting next year." He tells me I laugh. "Why? We're doing a good job." "Because I should be in there with a bourbon in my hand annoying my brother not in here with the bird." He said as he moved onto the Island with the turkey. "It's nice to have everyone together." "We could have everyone together at Klaus'" He says back I rolled my eyes. "It's Eli's first Christmas." "It's not her first Christmas next year." "No but you make traditions." I say. "Why can't our tradition be going to an island on Christmas. You don't even like the cold." He was right. "It makes Christmas, Christmas when it's cold... stop being the grinch Damon." "We're so having Christmas at Klaus'." "They do thanks giving." "Then Stef and care's." "They have new year." "Rebekah and-"Easter" "Kol and-"Bonfire night, and halloween." I smiled to myself as he rolled his eyes over and over. "If you keep rolling your eyes they may fall out fo your head." "Did Santa give you a joke book for Christmas because you're so funny." "No I'm just naturally this hilarious" I tell him. 

"You're lucky I love you." "Or what?" "Or I'd lock you in the basement." "Kinky." I said not being fazed by his empty threat. "We could go try-"No Damon, we have guest." "I could get rid of them." "Damon, the Turkey." I tell him. He finally gave up and helped me plate the dinners before carrying it through to the large dining room. I brought the extra food in so everyone can help themselves to seconds. Damon got everyone in the dining room whilst I sorted dessert out.

Dinner was a success, we watched a Christmas film for Hope's sake and she gave Kol and Stefan a princess make-over with her make-up Bex got her for Christmas whilst the rest of us tidy up the little tornados mess. She honestly creates more mess than a storm. I don't know how she manages it. 

It got later and Hope crashed on the rug by the fire. We left her to sleep with a blanket and a pillow, she looked comfy enough and the minute we moved her she'd wake up and be running around again. The babies were int heir cribs sleeping soundly. The fire crackling setting the atmosphere as we sat outside around the fire pit. Vampire hearing came in handy when you wanted to do things when the babies were in bed. We could hear them no matter where we were in the Manor. It will be helpful when they begin to walk and get mischievous. 

We decided to play some games. It was family night after all and what family night isn't complete without games that will cause major issues. We started off with Charades. We worked in couples. And Bonnie and Elena coupled up for the sake of the game. 

Caroline kept shouting at Stefan because he couldn't guess what she was acting out and I couldn't stop laughing because Stefan couldn't careless about the game But Caroline was super competitive. Klaus and Hayley were clearly cheating but I found it amusing that they thought no one had caught on but everyone had. Davina and Kol were actually good at the game, and would have won if Klaus and Hayley weren't cheating. Bonnie and Elena worked well together, I guess best friends have good team work.
