My Promise

"Where do we put this?" The two girls struggled to carry the coffin into the room. Hayley went to help them and laid it on the coffee table. "Eliana? Can you hear me?" Freya asked the girl who had her eyes closed. "Hmm?" Eli questioned a little out of it. "I need you to keep talking... Talk." Freya encouraged her as Eli blinked her eyes open. "Talk to me." I tell her ."Tell me about your favourite memory of you and mum?" She looked around the room. "I'm sleepy daddy." She said in a childlike voice. "You can't sleep right now my sweet girl... Talk to me... tell me-"AHHH!" She screamed shooting straight up. 

"Dad what's happening to her?" Steffi asked scared seeing her sister like this. "I don't know..." I tell her. "Freya?" I asked for help. "Alls you need to know is your mother is fighting." She told her sternly. "Hope can you take the girls to the school." "I'm not leaving her like this." Stef objected. "I'm not going Either." Lizzie said firmly. "Me neither." Josie said. "I'm fine, I think it's passed." Eli said layering a fake smile over the pain in her eyes. "Go... I'll be okay." She told them. Hope liked at her quizzingly. "Love you." She mouthed. "Love you." Stef mouthed back before Hope rounded them up and took them over to the school. I hoped she took them to the school. 

When the girls left Freya opened the Coffin. "Come on Arabella." She mumbled to herself as she looked in. I was still holding Eli's hand. She was trying to stay calm but she was in pain. "DAD!" She screamed as she cried and I couldn't do anything to take the pain away from her. I had to watch helpless. "Damon!" Bonnie said urgently and I looked over at her she pointed at Eli's leg a bite... Werewolf. We didn't know what that meant for Eli, she had vampire blood running through her it cured people but we didn't know what the bite meant. "Klaus?" I nudged my head over. He eyed it up before bitting into his wrist. "Drink this Eli." "Get away from me you're a liar!" Eli said pushing up with all her strength. "Eli he's trying to help!" "Help! He should have told US- AHHH!" 

"What's happening to her!" I demanded. Freya was doing something to Arabella's body. I stood up and went over to her Bonnie taking over. "Freya! What is wrong with her!" I demanded and I caught sight of my wife, every mark Eli had Arabella had. "Anything that happens to Ari, happens to your girls." "Why send Stefanie away then!" She'll be alone. "To weaken the connection. Eli's been with Ari for a week, Stef hasn't the further apart the weaker Ari's connection to them." "So what are you saying?" "If Bella gives up... Eli will-" I stopped her I didn't want to hear her say it. "But if Ari let's go of the girls... The connection she has to them will be severed and they should be fine." "She won't give up on the girls." "She will if she turns it off." "How are you going to get her to turn it off!" "No!" Klaus said coming over to us after giving Eli the blood. "You're not getting her to turn it off. 170 years she hasn't once! Turned it off...We don't know how to get it back." "I don't think she'll care Klaus her daughter is"AHHHH! MUMMY! I want my mum." Eli sobbed. 

Bites appeared on Bella's body every exposed place. Her dress had spots of blood pooling through the fabric. "Damon?" Freya asked me. I looked at my daughter who was in pain and my wife... Bella turns it off she won't fight... she won't try and get back to the girls because she won't care! But if she doesn't turn it off my sweet girls will be in pain. "Do it." "What!" "She made me promise... The girls life over hers... She'll stop fighting but the girls will be safe." I tell Klaus. "Freya do-" Freya was already doing the spell to get into Bella's head and some how talk her into turning it off. 

"It's going to be okay. Mummy's going to fix it." I tell Eli as I make my way to her. "Can I sleep now?" "Not yet... Not yet..." She nodded leaning her head on my shoulder, her body was exhausted. Freya was in her head as Eli was still thrashing around in pain screaming and trying to stay strong. 

"Pull her out!" Hayley demanded Bonnie. I looked over. Freya was bleeding from her nose. "Now!" She boomed. Bonnie quickly did and Freya looked exhausted. "What happened?" I questioned. "She's asleep... I can't get to her she's not awake she-"She gave up." Eli said heartbroken. "No she wouldn't just give up." I tell her and when Bella's body caught on fire and Eliana didn't feel the burning sensation I knew what she had done... "She turned it off." I say. "She turned it off to keep you safe." I tell her. "No! MUM! MUM!" She ran to the burning box saying a few latin words and the fire went out. "Eli, she's gone." I tell her not looking at the body. "NO! MUM! MUMMY WAKE UP!" She shouted in desperation at the corpse. "Eli!" Hayley says firmly. "MUMMY! Please. I'm scared! I'm scared I don't want to do it alone. I can't do it without you! Mummy!" She cried kneeling down resting her head on the side of the coffin. "Mummy." 

I couldn't look. I couldn't comfort her my daughter was breaking all over again. I keep hearing her beg for her to wake up her broken sobs echoing around the big house that has felt empty without Bella's sing and bright smile lighting the place up. It felt like the abandoned house it was not the home Klaus and Hayley had created. 

It felt cold. 

"Mummy Please wake up!" She begged, I put a brave face on and turn back around and knelt beside her and wrapped my arms around her. "Wake her up. Daddy. Please do something! Do something!" She begged me, the lights in the study flickered before going out... My light went out metaphorically and literally. 

But She kept her promise... She protected them.
