There is a so-called prince at Yamaguchi's highschool.
His name is Kei Tsukishima. Wherever he goes, whatever he does, they can hear everyone around him gossiping and whispering about how sexy, how amazingly hot he looks.
« Look it's Tsukishima! OMG what a hottie! He's so mature too... Other guys should try to be a little more like him don't you think? »
But Yamaguchi doesn't agree. The other day, their childhood best friend, Moe, confessed her feelings to him and not only did he reject her, which isn't a problem in itself, but he also acted like a complete, total dick.
When she gave him the love letter she had written, he said : « I would like it better if you didn't give me this, I think it's disgusting ».
Of course, when Yamaguchi heard those girls babbling and gagging about how mature he was, they were seriously pissed.
And it is because of this whole thing that Yamaguchi Tadashi, a completely basic and unknown student, was currently calling the school prince's name from the other side of the hallway - full of students - seeking revange for their friend.
They hadn't however thought about what they were actually going to say after impulsively screaming the most popular guy's name in front of basically the whole school.
They dragged the blonde into an empty classroom as fast as they could, trying to ignore the sudden axniety they felt about this entire situation. They had caused it after all, but didn't quite prepare for any of it.
- « Hum.. yeah hi. » They mumbled, barely audible, staring at the floor.
- « You are..? » Tsukishima directly asked. The arrogant tone made Tadashi gain back a bit of confidence.
- « My name is Tadashi Yamaguchi, I'm from class C. » They paused, took a breath, and looked back into the blonde's eyes. « Last week, Moe Shibuya, also from class C, confessed her feelings to you. I'm her bestfriend. That day, do you know how much courage it took her to even speak to you? And you didn't just politely reject her, you insulted her, like an asshole. »
They thought saying it all in one go would make it easier, it didn't. But they needed to defend their friend, this was wrong and unfair, and-
- « That's why you're here? » Tsukishima asked, glaring, clearly unimpressed.
Yamaguchi hesitated.
- « Couldn't you at least agree to be her friend? »
- « Annoying, not pretty enough, nothing interesting to get out of this relationship. And it's the exact same for you so drop whatever it is you're trying to achieve. »

Later that day, Yamaguchi was walking home with Moe.
- « You see that's the thing with men. They don't have hearts. They think they're superior to us. It's always the same. He is a cold and manipulative guy, Moe, and you are forbidden to ever go near him ever again.»
Yamaguchi was still not over their previous encounter with the school prince.
- « What are you, my mom? » Moe answered, laughing. « You didn't have to get so angry with him, you know. I can take care of myself. »
- « Yeah sorry... he deserved it though. The real problem here is that you're not even that angry about it ! »
- « Hm, I guess we could say I just got over him. It's fine really, there's no need for you to worry at all. She nodded slowly and a small smile appeared on her face, Yamaguchi didn't know if she truly meant it.
- « If you say so... the important thing is that you're okay. »
They stayed silent for a bit.
- « By the way, are you sure you don't want to go to the supermarket today Tadashi? There's some big sales going on. »
- « Wait really? I didn't see it this morning... It's too late now I guess.»
- « It sure isn't easy to live alone. » Moe chuckled.
- « When you get used to it it's pretty fun but yeah, it can also be really draining. You should visit me more often. »
- « If you cook for me, I'll definitely come hehe. »
- « Do you only hang out with me for my cooking then? » Yamaguchi dramatically gasped, holding back a laugh.
- « Maybe. » Moe answered, laughing as well.
They has just waved goodbye, but as Yamaguchi walked started walking home, Moe called their name again.
- « Thank you for everything Tadashi ! » is all she said, before turning around.
Yamaguchi just smiled back and waved, not wanting to embarrass her by saying something honest and probably quite sappy. They felt... relieved. They didn't want to be a burden to her, ever, and thought maybe she was annoyed about the Tsukishima situation.
They were truly happy that she wasn't.

A few days later, while Yamaguchi was cooking dinner, a knock was heard coming from their front door. Someone behind it introduced themselves as the new neighbour.
They went to open the door and for a second, they froze, eyes grown wide in surprise. That expression wasn't there for long though, quickly replaced by a look of intense annoyance. They may or may not have panicked and simply slammed the door in their neighbour's face.
- « Hey, I'm also disappointed that I ended up with you as my neighour you know? » said that - stupid, selfish, arrogant, disgusting - Tsukishima.
- « ... » Yamaguchi hesitated for a bit before carefully opening back their door. « Hello Tsukishima. I hate your guts. What brings you here? » they said, the widest grin possible on their face.
- « Just take this. I bought it for my new neighbour, though i wouldn't have if I knew who that person was. » Tsukishima said, sounding more tired then annoyed.
He gave Yamaguchi a small package and went back to his appartement without another word.
