As a result of their cohabitation, Tadashi had learned a lot of interesting facts about Tsukishima. One of them being that the blonde was almost ironically scared of the dark.
This was why they decided, one evening, while he watched a new horror movie, to turn the lights off and give him a taste of his own medicine (the tabasco incident not quite forgotten). As soon as the room turned dark, the blonde got very still, not moving an inch, almost not breathing, fear emanating off of him in waves.
Tadashi quietly walked to him and whispered "boo" in his ear. Not much but it was enough to make Tsukki scream, stand up and glare at them before storming off to their room only for sleep to evade him all night long.
The next morning, his eyebags were gigantic: he hadn't gotten a wink of sleep. Tadashi knew they shouldn't feel bad, so they didn't. They were only getting revenge. And it was indeed a dish best served cold.
- "Are you done soon?" Tsukishima practically growled as they shared breakfast on the proch of their apartment.
- "Done laughing? No, not really."
He gave them a menacing look which a month ago would have paralysed them, but considering everything, didn't scare them much anymore. Instead, they dissolved right back into laughter after showing him the picture they took of his screaming face the night before. They argued back and forth for a while, though most people would call it bantering more than anything, until someone interrupted them.
- "And they're at it again!"
They both turned, and took a step back, awkwardly realising how close they had been standing to each other. It was the landlord paying them a visit, accompanied as always by her son, Kota.
- "Good morning, Miss!"
- "Good morning, Yamaguchi. You look quite refreshed! Or maybe Tsukishima is just looking extra tired...?"
- "I would say it's a bit of both, Miss. But thank you."
They grinned, glancing at their roommate, but the blonde was already crouched and violently whispering in Kota's ear, probably discussing how he could get back at them. Well, if he kept a 6-year-old child as his one and only accomplice, Tadashi wasn't exactly worried.
If the landlord noticed how affectionately they looked at them at the childish pair reunited, she didn't say a thing.
- "So, how's summer treating you so far? Still bickering I see." said the landlord, a touch of reproach in her words.
- "We've been well. Don't worry about that," Yamaguchi lowered their voice, "I think it's just his preferred form of communication."
- "With you it does seem so!" the woman answered, laughing, not missing the way the tip of their ears turned a shade pinker. "Let me get to business. Are you both free today?"
- "I think so. Tsukki, you're not working today, are you?" After seeing the blonde shake his head, Yamaguchi confirmed they were both, in fact, completely free of plans. A bit of a depressing fact really if you asked them.
They noticed the way the woman's smile widened at their words, and their regret at being exceptionally boring people increased ten times.
- "If that's the case, you wouldn't mind babysitting Kota for me today, would you?" she inquired, the smuggest possible grin on her face. "It's just... I saw some really nice sales at the mall and going there with him would only slow me down, you know how ladies get when they have coupons-"
- "We'll do it!" yelled Tsukishima from behind her, who apparently had listened to the whole thing. He and Kota were really teaming up, huh?
- "Oh, sweetie that's wonderful, thank you! And Tadashi, he can be a bit of a pain, I expect you to be the reasonable one. Well then, I've got to run, these dresses won't try themselves on. You are my favourite tenants! Bye-bye!"
