Inevitable || tsukiyama au

CHAPTER 14.

- "KEIII!" is how Akiteru had greeted his brother.

He hugged him so tight the blonde looked like he was out of air, and kissed him all over his cheeks. Behind his brother's back, Akiteru winked at Tadashi who felt so embarrassed to be a part of this stupid plan.

- "You've grown so tall, you almost look like an adult now!" he continued. "Oh, and Tadashi, thanks for the invitation!"

Yamaguchi just awkwardly waved, a small smile on their face, thinking about how they had somehow thought this would be a great idea.

Behind his brother, Tsukishima was glaring at them quite intensely, and Tadashi felt their entire body shiver in fear and anticipation.

- "How do you know them?" he asked Akiteru, who hesitated for a while, probably confused because of the pronoun. He looked towards Yamaguchi, who just gave him a pleading look, hoping he wouldn't say something too stupid.

- "Who? Oh, Tadashi? We met.. at the mall! Yes! Right! We met at the mall, I was a poor lost soul abandoned by everyone and he was the light that guided me to happiness, me and Tadashi just have that kind of special bond, yknow!" he grinned, somehow proud of the atrocity that had just came out of his mouth.

Yamaguchi looked absolutely mortified, which somehow made their roommate smirk. That idiot.

- "Is that so?" is all that he said before giving Yamaguchi a "I know what you're trying to do" look.

The entire afternoon was filled with the same kind of situation, and as you can imagine, the plan was huge fail. None of Akiteru's actions seemed to make Tsukishima jealous, he just ignored it, glaring at his brother from time to time.
Yamaguchi, who honestly kind of got dragged into this whole thing, didn't seem to care too much. Akiteru on the other hand, looked absolutely miserable.

- « Kei! Come on! At least let me sleep here... »
- « No. »

This fight had been going on for about fifteen minutes, but Tsukishima (the second) didn't want to hear it. He had gotten enough of his brother all afternoon, he didn't need him sneaking into his bedroom as well.

- « But I'm sooo tired! Be nice! »

Tadashi couldn't stand any more of it, it was late, and they wanted to sleep; this all Tsukishima family drama would have to wait until morning.

- « Tsukki, c'mon it's annoying all of us, just let him sleep here. »
- « ... »
- « Be the bigger man here! » they insisted.
- «  Yeah brother you're smarter than this! » Akiteru added.

Tsukki feigned hesitation before agreeing. Yamaguchi grinned proudly. Playing on ego always worked.

Tsukki left the room to take a shower, probably embarrassed about being so easy to manipulate, and Yamaguchi was left alone with Akiteru.

- « Hey. We should sleep together. »
- « SLEEP TOGETHER? »
- « No, not in that way. I meant, sleep in next to each other, in the same futon. »
- « Why would we do that?! »
- « Cause. I can tell Kei is close to breaking, we just need to push it a little more.. »
- « I don't think it's a good idea. »

It took a lot of whining (and a tiny bit of manipulation) to get Tadashi to agree to it. Even though it was an awkward situation, they still wanted to make their roommate jealous, and most of all, this late at night, a good 8 hours of sleep was the all they could think about. As long as he didn't snore, agreeing to sleep with Akiteru was the only way to make it happen any time soon. And so they both got ready for bed, and by the time Tsukki was done showering, they were already in their futon. It was even more uncomfortable than expected, mostly because Akiteru was so tall, as tall as his brother, but Yamaguchi would have make it work, they were already starting to doze off anyway.

« Psst, Tadashi. »
No answer.
- « Oh come on. Wake up. »
- « Will you let me sleep you..! »
Yamaguchi opened their eyes, but they didn't end up facing the Tsukishima they had excepted.
- « Tsukki? Where's Akiteru.. »
- « He left. »
Yamaguchi gave him confused look.
- « Ah. Well. I kicked him out. »
- « At- wait what time is it.. » they checked their phone. « At three am?! »
- « He'll be fine. I couldn't sleep. »
He did look tired, with those dark circles under his eyes.
- « Poor guy. »
They two stayed quiet for a moment. They hadn't been this awkward in a while. Yamaguchi looked around the room, trying to find something to stare at.
- « He was hugging you. »
- « What? »
- « In his sleep! I mean, in his sleep. He's got that habit since he was a kid, always hugging a plushie or something to fall asleep. »
- « Oh, okay then. »
Another silence.
- « I- just. » Tadashi finally looked at Tsukishima, he looked kind of red, but it may have been just the lighting. « I didn't like it.»
He had whispered so quietly that Tadashi couldn't hear anything he had just said.
- « What? »
- « It.. ah, never mind. »
- « Alright. »
The room fell quiet again. The atmosphere was weird, tense even, Tadashi didn't know what to think.
- « I'm sorry. » Tsukishima mumbled after a while.
- « About what? »
- « The kiss thing. »
- « Oh, yeah, that. That was.. pretty stupid yeah, but, but! It's fine, I'm fine it didn't-»
- « I know. It's okay. »
Yamaguchi hesitated for a minute, before raising their voice again.
- « Me too. I- I mean, I'm sorry too. »
- « What about? »
- « The... ah. The Akiteru thing. »
- « Oh. »
- « Yeah. »
- « ... I'm. I'm gonna go get some air, alright? »
- « Alright. »
- « Cool. »

And then Tsukishima left the room. Outside, he found his brother waiting for him.

- « Did you apologise? » he asked, wearing his usual annoying grin.
- « None of your business. »
Akiteru made a dramatic face and mockingly gasped. Tsukki rolled his eyes and glared at him.
- « You know, you should be nicer to him though, if you don't want him to leave. »
- « Them. »
- « If you don't want them to leave. »
- « Leave me alone. »
Akiteru looked at his brother up and down, and sighed loudly.
- « Alright, I will! Just be careful, anyone could snatch them away! »
And with that he left.
After the car was gone, Tsukishima got back home, only to find Tadashi sleeping again. He looked at them, or more like, he admired them for a (long) minute before getting ready for bed. As he was about to turn the lights off, he noticed something, a piece of paper, sitting on the ground between his and Tadashi's futon. He approached it, only to see that it wasn't just a piece of paper, it was a small photo.
And a very interesting one at that.
