- « Is 98 yens too expensive for this much chicken? »
- «  Why? »
- « Tonight, I'm making dinner. »

Tsukishima had a stupidly proud grin on his face.

- « Do you even know how to cook ? »
- « I'll never know if I don't try... »

This led to a long, painful, awkward and tiring cooking session, filled with way too much physical contact for Yamaguchi's liking. Tsuki with a knife was something you didn't want to be around, unless you had a death wish. He almost stabbed himself and his roommate a bunch of times, but luckily didn't burn the kitchen like said roommate.

A little later that evening, the doorbell rang. Surely, it was nothing important
Tsukishima went to open it.

- « Hi brother ! Forgot something, can I come in? »

Tsuki glared, and Akiteru, as usual, pretended not to notice. He rushed past the front door and entered the apartment he had left just a couple of days before.
He got inside the bedroom, and grabbed a necklace he had let there. Yamaguchi wasn't sure it had actually been an accident.

- « There it is! Also, almost forgot, Kei, Sasaki wanted to speak to you. »
- « You can leave now. » Tsukki ignored the statement.

Akiteru looked like he was just about to leave, until he wasn't. And then, it all went very fast. He turned around, suddenly looking somehow mischievous, a face that Yamaguchi wasn't familiar with. It didn't look like the bubbly and excentric Akiteru he knew until now.
He pulled something out of his back pocket.

- « Ah,this sucks. You're too emotionless Kei, it's annoying. »
Yamaguchi could see it clearly, the picture he had in his hands. It was the one they had taken back in the car that day, the one that they had insisted to never show Tsukki. Ever.
And even more terrifying, the blonde didn't seen surprised, at all.
- « Here I was thinking I could make a bit of a mess ! He didn't even tell you he knew about the picture did he? »

Yamaguchi felt so stupid. Of course it was like that- why would any of the Tsukishimas ever be honest with them?

- « It came out good, right Tadashi? » Kei still wasn't saying anything. Akiteru wrapped his arms around them, but they were too disoriented to do anything about it. They only had one question in mind.
- « Why would you do this? » they were on the verge of tears, but they weren't crying, not yet.
- « Isn't it obvious? I love seeing my brother's face when he's mad. »
The statement didn't even seem to reach Tsuki's brain, like he was used to it. Suddenly, Yamaguchi understood all the hatred he felt about his brother.
- « And it was so easy to have my fun with you as well ! » he continued, laughing. « You were so preoccupied. The moment you asked me about what my brother would enjoy, I pretty much used you, you know. »
His words hit Tadashi like a truck.
- « You were just such an idiot, willing to do anything for- »

A  fist flew through the air, and right into Akiteru's jaw.
Tsukki, who hadn't moved or said anything since the beginning of Akiteru's monologue, looked like he had been brought back from a dream. Yamaguchi had just punched his brother.

- « Apologise to him. » they said, voice low and rough. And surprisingly sexy as well but it's not like Tsukishima could say anything about it right there right now-

They looked like they were about to punch him again, but they didn't. Instead, they turned to check that their roommate was okay (which it seemed like he was, he just looked a bit flustered) and then glared intensely at Akiteru, as if they were capable of stabbing just with their will.
Akiteru stared for a minute, a little throw off but what had just happened, before he started to chuckle.

- « Haha, nice punch! You're a funny guy, Tadashi. » He didn't sound mean or vicious, just pleasantly surprised. Then, he quicky looked at his brother, and mumbled a barely audible « sorry ».

He got up, raised his hand up to his temple, gesturing a « goodbye » sign, and then just left, completely unbothered.

- « What a weird guy. » was the only thing Yamaguchi could come up with saying, and they weren't wrong. What weird guy indeed. They glanced at Tsukishima, who shrugged.

- «  You need to put ice on your hand. Come one » the blonde answered, grabbing their wrist.
- « I'm fine, it's o- »
- « Let's go. »

They ended up, once again, with Tsuki treating Yamaguchi's wound, not that it was particularly big nor painful. Yamaguchi didn't say anything. Tsukishima spoke first.

- «  You shouldn't get so upset for other people. You'll be the one who ends up getting hurt. »

Suddenly, Yamaguchi started crying. Heavy crying. It wasn't pretty crying either, big round tears rushing out of their eyes making a mess on their face.
They weren't feeling particularly sad or angry before, but now they were. They didn't exactly know why.

- « How- how can you just say that?! » they snapped.
- « What? »
- « You- you just... I feel so stupid, you don't get that do you? I try so hard to be nice, to- to defend you because- because I... You think I just get so upset for anyone? You think I made a fool of myself, got manipulated like that, just so I could be a nice person? And nevertheless, even if I wanted to do that for others, how would that be any of your-»

Yamaguchi felt arms wrap around them. Not necessarily in a tender way, or in a romantic kind of way, but in a clinging, needy way. A hug that meant « I don't want you to go away, ever. », not that they could have known that.

Tsukishima whispered, so, so quietly that Yamaguchi was barely able to catch it.

- « Thank you, then. »

It was stupid, just how two little silly words could be all you've ever needed, but in that particular moment, it felt like it was. Yamaguchi didn't want their roommate to scold them, to say that they shouldn't care about him. In fact, they didn't even want to hear that he cared about them. All they wanted was recognition, gratitude, to know that he knew that they did it for him, only for him.

They stayed like this, for a while, until Tadashi stopped crying. Then Tsukishima grabbed both of their shoulder, pulled them back and stared. At them, at their lips, at them, at their lips, before quickly turning away.

- « Can't belive that bastard stole you a kiss. »
- « ... sorry? »
Tsuki got up.
- « You know what? It doesn't count. »
- « How? »
- « I say it doesn't count, so it doesn't count. »
- « That's not how it works, though. »
- « It wasn't even on the lips ! »
- « It was still a kiss... »
Tsukishima turned back, insecure, checking if his roommate was actually kidding. Which of course, they were.
- « You fucking bastard. » he groaned, before disappearing in the kitchen.
Yamaguchi grinned so widely it hurt and wiped the last of their tears away.

—————————————————————-

A little later that evening, Tsuki reappeared with a plate in his hand.
- « There, eat your curry. »
- « You finished it?! All on your own? »
- « Yes. I'm a grown man, by the way. »
Yamaguchi glanced at the plate - which didn't seem poisoned - and then back at him,
- « All right, bring it. »

The first bite actually tasted okay, but Yamaguchi didn't say anything, not yet.
It was after the second bite that it started going all wrong.
Yamaguchin felt something a little spicy, must be the curry, they thought.
But it wasn't.
In a matter of seconds, they were running to the kitchen, opening the fridge, swallowing their whole bottle of milk in one go before basically collapsing on the floor. Meanwhile, the blonde was enjoying himself, laughing so hard little beeds of water formed in the corner of his eyes.

- « Fuck. » Yamaguchi had to stop to take a breath « You. » They looked as red as the entire tabasco bottle that was poured in their curry. « I knew something was up when you said you wanted to cook. »

- «  Yeah, but you were too stupid to guess ! » Tsuki said, sticking his tongue out, before dissolving into laughter once again.
