Chapter Nine: Renn Coco
When we had to run to the hotel room, I was better at handling myself. I figured out that if I just kept looking straight, I wouldn’t be distracted by the crowds and flashes. I thought to myself that Jessica had figured out the same thing because she was able to keep up better with Harry.
Finally reaching the door, I still find myself out of breath. I look at Jessica and see that even though she seems tired like I am, she is wrapped up in Harry’s arms. I can’t help but smile at how ridiculously cute they are together. With Jessica only being 5’4, she was considerably shorter than him. Perhaps that’s why they look so adorable when they are hugged up to each other.
Immediately, my best friend radar kicks in. I really hope that he isn’t using her. I know sometimes pop stars like to just keep a girl around for a few days and then ditch them. However, I have faith that Harry isn’t like that.
I’m knocked out of my thoughts when I hear the hotel door unlock. I see that Zayn is the one who had opened it because it looks as if he is putting the key inside his wallet. I feel Niall put his arm around my shoulder and guide me through the door. I notice that Harry and Jess are still standing outside in the hallway whispering to each other softly. Niall must have noticed to because he turns to go back outside to get them.
“No! Don’t bother them!” I whisper forcefully. I like seeing my best friend happy, so there was no way I was about to let the Irish boy interrupt them. I quickly grab his hand to bring him back over to me. I softly shut the door so that it is only cracked open a bit.
Feeling satisfied, I take a look around the room. For the second time that night, my jaw drops. The room is huge. Walking to the center of the area, I take in everything. The first thing I notice is the large fish tank that goes from one end of a wall to the other. It’s filled with all sorts of colorful tropical fish. I turn my attention to the rest of the room. All of the furniture is white. There are two couches facing each other that are separated by a black coffee table. Comfortable looking chairs sit beside the couches and there are a few small tiny tables with lamps on them. All of the furniture was sitting on a red shag rug.
Over in the corner, I see that Zayn is already hitting up the mini bar. Laughing to myself, I walk over and join him. I notice he’s pouring a clear liquid into a small glass filled with a couple of ice cubes.
“Would you like a drink?” He asks me.
“That depends. Is there anything that doesn’t contain alcohol? I would kind of like to remember tonight” I say smiling.
“How would a Dr. Pepper be?”
“That sounds perfect.” He hands me a glass and quickly fills it with a few ice cubes. As he begins to poor the drink, he takes a glance around and settles his eyes on me.
“I noticed that Harry has taken quite a fancy towards your friend.” He smirks.
“Yeah, I have noticed that too.” I wonder if he would give me any information about Harry affection towards Jess. “Has he mentioned anything to you about it?”
“No, he hasn’t. I can tell he likes her though. I’ve never seen him fancy a girl as quickly as he has with Jessica. He has a certain gleam in his eyes every time he looks at the girl. I have a feeling this is the real deal for him.”
“So, I take it as he isn’t going to mess with her heart?”
“Harry mess with her feelings? Of course not! The tabloids may portray him as a womanizer, but he has a good soul. He’d rather give his right arm than see a girl with a broken heart.” I can tell that Zayn is telling me the truth by the way his voice has taken on a serious tone.
“Good to hear.” I say smiling up at him. Abruptly, I felt a hand slide across my shoulders. Looking over, I see Louis’s face pulled into a grin, staring down at me.
“Hello there, Lou.” I greet him.
“Hey yourself. Are you enjoying yourself so far?” He asks.
“Definitely! I mean, tonight hasn’t gone exactly as I planned, but it’s better than I could have ever hoped for.”
“How has it not gone how you planned?” Zayn inquires.
“Well seeing as how I face planted twice, got pulled up on stage, ran from a crazy crowd, and my best friend is off somewhere with of you boys…those things were definitely not on my list of what to do tonight. But now that I think about it, I wouldn’t change it for the world. It’s been an adventure so far.”
“I agree with you.” Liam says while walking behind the bar.
“Are you girls spending the night?” Louis asks.
“Well, we were told that we were only hanging out with you boys back at the hotel. I mean if you’d like us to we can, I guess.” I wonder to myself if they actually want to hang out with us.
“Of course, you girls are great! When I first heard about the whole “win back stage passes” thing, I was hopin’ that the girls wouldn’t be crazed fans. I’m glad that you two aren’t. You both seem nice and down to earth.” Liam says with a small smile.
“Thank you, Liam.” I say as I return his smile. Glancing around the room, I try to find where the blonde one has gone off to. As much as he’s unintentionally abused me, I’m starting to take a strong liking towards him. In the middle of slyly peeking about the room, one of the boys clears his throat.
“Looking for a certain Irish bloke, Audrey?” Zayn questions me.
Well damn, I think. “What? No, I was just…looking at…the fish tank. It’s very lovely.”
“I bet you were. I was going to tell you that our dear Niall had retreated to his bedroom but since you aren’t concerned, I guess it doesn’t matter.” Zayn says smirking.
Dropping my act, I start to genuinely wonder why he isn’t out here with the remaining three boys. I assume that my confusion is shown on my face because Louis turns to reveal the reason behind the boy’s disappearance.
“He mentioned to me that he was going to his bedroom to shower up. I couldn’t imagine why though…” He trails off.
“Well, you see, our dear Niall has taken a fancy towards Audrey I do believe. Normally he isn’t so concerned with his hygiene when it’s just us lads.” Liam says with a wink at me.
Hearing this news gives me butterflies. There’s no way that he likes me. I refuse to believe it. I was just some small town girl; I wasn’t made for the life of being a superstar’s crush. Or, so I thought.
“Niall likes me? No way. I think you boys are delusional. Maybe all this touring and performing has gotten your brains muddled.” I say smiling but avoiding their gazes.
“Why do ya think the tourin’ ‘as gotten our brains muddled?” An Irish accent says from behind. Clearly he hadn’t heard all of our conversation. I sighed in relief.
“Well Audrey thinks that there’s no way tha-” I send Louis a death stare and he stops mid-sentence. Thankfully, Liam cuts in and saves me.
“What Lou is trying to say, is that Audrey is insisting that we aren’t quoting “Mean Girls” correctly. I told her that it’s “Renn Coco” but she says it’s “Glenn Coco.”
“I’m pretty sure that Audrey is right, but how about we settle this by just watchin’ the movie?” Niall replies.
“I can dig it.” I say. Thank God Louis didn’t bust me out. That would have been too embarrassing. I look at the other the boys; they all nod their heads in agreement; looks like it’s going to be a movie night then.
“It’s settled then. Shall we all go to the master bedroom? Oh, and we can’t forget ‘Arry and Jess. Does anyone know where the two of them went off to?” Niall inquires.
I shrug my shoulders and look at the other boys; they shrug as well. “I’ll text Jess real quick to make sure they’re okay I guess.”
Zayn nods his approval, so I pull out my phone. After I send Jess a speedy message, I look at the boys, “So how about that movie?”
