Chapter Fifteen: A Flight To Remember
Beep. Beep. Beep.
Opening one eye, I slam my hand over my alarm clock to silence it. I shove a pillow over my head and bury myself deeper into the jungle of blankets I’ve wrapped myself in. Today is the day Jess and I hop on a plane to L.A. Normally I would be overly excited for this, considering that L.A. and the boys have been the only thing on my mind these last few weeks. And don’t get me wrong, I’m still thrilled about the whole thing. It’s just the small facet that it is currently 2:47 a.m. and I have to be on a plane in the next two and a half hours.
Dragging myself out of bed, I walk to the bathroom. I throw off my pj’s and hop in the shower. Ten minutes later, I’m out and drying my hair. I’m torn between just throwing my hair in a bun and straightening in. Choosing the former, I grab a ponytail and throw my hair up. I settle for just straightening my bangs and putting on a little makeup.
Walking back to my room, I check my phone and see that it’s almost 3:15. I enter my room and go straight for my closet. Pulling out a pair of blue jean shorts and a dark blue t-shirt, I throw them on. Locating my favorite black flip flops, I shove my feet in and walk over to what’s left of my luggage. A few days ago, the boys told Jess and me to send our major suitcases and whatever else we had. And seeing as we were going to be in L.A and who knows where else for the next two to three months, Jess and I had a lot of stuff packed.
Looking around my room momentarily, I see that it is almost completely empty. It makes me feel weird seeing it like that. I shrug my shoulders and turn back to my little piece of luggage. There’s only a back pack sitting in the floor. I pick it up and walk out of my bedroom.
Entering the living room, Jessica is already there sitting in a chair. I notice that she is wearing pink Nike running shorts and a plain grey V-neck. Her hair is in a messy bun just like mine is.
“Tell me again why the boys sent us tickets for 5:15 in the freakin’ morning?” I ask agitated.
“I don’t even know. Probably did it on purpose. They know how much we aren’t morning people.” Jess grumbles.
“I swear it had to have been Louis’s idea. He’s gonna get it an earful when I see him.” I tell her. We both know that I probably won’t say anything though. I’ll be way too excited to see the boys.
Pulling my phone out, I check the time again. I realize that it’s 3:32 so the cab should be here by now. I tell Jessica as I go around the apartment for a final time to make sure all our appliances are turned off and to double check that we have everything we need. Once I’ve finished, I grab my things and head to the front door. Jess locks up and follows me to the elevator.
We reach the lobby and I see the cab sitting out front just as I had suspected. I also notice that Peter is already standing by the cab talking to the driver. He has a cup of coffee in his hand and he’s dressed all in black as per usual. I’ve come to find out that he thinks that when he wears all black, he looks more threatening. I disagreed though because I think he would look threatening even if he was wearing a pink bunny suit. The guy just looks like he could beat someone’s ass; there’s really no room for discussion.
Walking out, Peter turns to greet us with a smile. Even though we don’t return it, we still say hello. Did I forget to mention that he’s also a morning person?
