Chapter Seventeen: Jessica’s Point Of View

45 Minutes Earlier

“SKANK!” I yell while sticking my head out of the bathroom door. I hear Audrey laugh as she slams the front door. Turning back to the mirror, I finish putting on my eyeliner. After I’m done doing some finishing touches, I check the time on my phone. So I’m only thirty minutes late. No big deal.

“Jessica, are you ready? We really need to go.” Peter says knocking on my door. I tell him almost and walk over to my closet. I pull out my purple and blue dip-dyed high waist shorts with a black t-shirt. Quickly putting them on, I shove my feet into my silver glitter Converse and walk out of the door.

I meet Peter at the front entrance and we walk to his black Escalade. He turns to me once we’re seated in the car and asks me if I’m excited about the duet I’m about to do with Hazza.

“Um, yeah! I’m so excited that I can barely see straight. I just really hope I don’t mess anything up.” I tell him honestly. I notice that we are coming up to the busiest intersection in L.A.

“I doubt you’ll mess up. I’ve been listening to you for the last month and your voice is bloody brilliant.” He tells me with a smile on his face. I start to return his smile but I notice that his face has quickly taken on a shade of horror. I start to ask what’s wrong but I’m cut off by the back passenger side of the car being hit.

The Escalade is abruptly sent into spirals and I think the spinning will never end. A few seconds later, my prayers are answered and the car stops- it’s just not how I wanted it to. My side of the car slams into a telephone pole as my head smashes against the passenger window. I see nothing but darkness as I fade into unconsciousness.
