Chapter Fourteen: Round Two
The next week slowly drags by. Mostly, Jess and I just sit around watching movies. We rarely venture out of the apartment anymore because of the crowds and paparazzi. They always bombard us with questions about the boys. One guy even had the nerve to ask us if we were just using the guys to get famous. Least to say, Jess had a few choice words for him.
Once a little over a week had past, Jess lost it, “I can’t keep staying cooped up in here! It’s driving me nuts! We need to get out and do something. There’s no way I’m going to let these ridiculous people standing outside the building dictate if I stay or go!”
“You’re right, I know. We need to get out. I guess we can go down town or something.” I say.
“Exactly. Go shower, because I know you want to, and I’ll go get ready.” With that, Jess and I go our separate ways. I grab a pair of red running shorts and an old t-shirt that had my school’s logo on the front. Walking to the bathroom, I turn on the shower and step in.
After blow drying my hair and getting dressed, I make my way to the living room. Jess is sitting on the couch staring at her phone with a smile on her face. Instantly I know its Harry that she’s talking to.
“So, what’s our lovely Brit saying to you now?” I ask.
“Oh, nothing. He just said he hopes we have fun and that he has a surprise for me in L.A.”
“A surprise? What do you think it is?”
“Man…I don’t even know. Knowing Hazza, it could be anything.”
“Well okay then.” I say with a smile. Looking at my phone I see that it’s almost eleven o’clock. Walking over to the front door, I slip on my flip flops and grab my bag. Sending a text to Peter, I turn to Jessica. “You ready Jess?”
“Yeah I am. I guess we can go to Urban Outfitters first.” She says grabbing her car keys. She joins me at the front door and we walk out. Once we get to the front lobby doors, we stop and stare out at the small crowd of photographers. I see Peter is already standing out front. Grabbing my arm, Jess pulls me out the doors and into the hectic war of camera flashes. They yell out questions but we don’t answer any of them. Keeping our heads down, we get inside Jess’s mini coop. With Peter driving, we make our way down town.
-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-
We go to a few stores and only a couple of people come up to us. Most of them are pre-teens just wanting a picture with us. Smiling, Jessica and I oblige. It feels nice to be wanted like that.
Peter pulls us to the side after we finish our pictures with the girls. “Okay, we need to have a signal of some sort. I know you girls don’t want me hovering over your shoulder.”
“Um…well I guess we can cough or something. Yeah, we’ll just cough a few times. That’s a good signal. That way, no one will realize what it means.” Jess says.
“Sounds like a plan to me.” Peter says. “Well you girls continue shopping. I’m going to go over to the coffee shop.”
Nodding our heads, we turn back to our shopping. A few minutes later, I hear my phone ring. Pulling it out of my pocket, I see the caller ID reads Niall Horan. With a huge grin, I answer.
