He whiffed the air with his nose and his ears rose up in curiosity. He suddenly started running in a random direction. "Marco" I called after my him. I sighed in irritation. He wandered of again. I didn't bother looking for him, he'll come back eventually. I looked around and figured it was getting kind of dark I dropped my satchel and started collecting wood for a fire.
I lit up a match and placed it inside the firewood. It caught on and the fire spread. I sat down at the now brightly burning fire and watched the flames. I lowered myself supporting me on my elbows and looked up the sky. I could see the orion constellation in the starry sky. Tommorow we're going east I think to myself. An alarm went off in my head. I rose up and looked around. I felt I wasn't alone anymore. Then I heard growling. "Marco!" I said. I quickly got up and followed the noise. He was near I knew that, but it was hard to see in the dark. I heard someone giggling and turned towards the way the voice was coming from. Not far from me was a little figure and infront of it was Marco. This wasn't good. Maybe it was a kid from the near village and it would tell others what he saw ."What are you doing?" I asked. The figure froze and looked up at me. My eyes have already adjusted to the dark and I could see it was a little boy dressed in furry underwear. The kid looked like he was raised in the wild with his dirty skin and ruffled hair. His posture said he was frightened. I saw what he was going to do and I warned him "Don't move." But I guess kids don't understand things so simply. He turned around and started running. "Oi! You" I yelled. Shit if the kid is definitely going to tell someone was here. "Marco go!" I ordered the wolf. He started running after it. The shorty was pretty fast. I saw a short-cut to the place he was running and I sprinted there. He clashed into me and fell down. He quickly got up, looked at me and snarled. It sent shivers down my spine. The little person infront of me very much reminded me of a cornered strayed cat. I tried playing cautiously. "Wait!" I lifted up my hands trying to say I wasn't a threat, but it didn't work. The kid moved and was in front of me in a flash launching to attack me. I reacted and grabbed the attacking arms twisting them and holded the body against mine. And if I thought that he was animalistic before I couldn't find the words for his state when he started bitting and twisting trying to get out of my grip. "Stop it" I growled in annoyance into his head. He stopped. I relaxed for a bit "Alright" I said "I'm gonna let you go now. Will you promise to listen just for a bit?" The kid nodded.
"Alright" I said and let go of his arms. He quickly jumped away from me and just watched me carefully. "I'm not going to hurt you, I promise" I said. "Okay now the only thing I want to know is why are you here." I guess that was another wrong move on my side, because the kid tensed again. "Wait! Don't!" I hurried, but he was slready running. I cursed and then yelled "Marco!" my companion started running after the kid again.
