"Done!", Ahana said to herself and stretched her forelimbs above her head while exiting her room.
Mehak was watching cartoons and from sound of spoon hitting the pan, she knew her mother was in the kitchen. Taking slow steps, she entered the kitchen too and watched her mother stirring the vegetables in the pan.
They were both were silent for a moment when her mother noticed the thoughtfulness reeling in Ahana's eyes who was busy starting at the green vegetables in the pan, "What happened?", she asked.
Ahana was a little shocked at first, who answered with a little "hmm?", but her mother didn't repeat the question since she knew Ahana had hear her the first time.
She looked at her mother's questioning eyes and at last she spoke.
"Are we....Are we really leaving?"
Her mother put the flame on low and turned to face her, "I am not sure. Your father's name had just been recommended not selected and even if it gets selected, we will be leaving after you've given Board Exams. Now don't worry so much, we will take care of it, you focus on your studies".
'Studies.I wish my world revolved around that only.' Ahana thought to herself.

Ishaan scribbled the word when he found, it didn't fit well in the poem and then he read it once again:
You are like the sun
your presence burns me
but your absence leaves me in the darknessI can endure the burns
If it only means your presence...After he was satisfied he gave the poem a last look and closed the notebook.
Love. This was what he loved and after confiding about this to his brother the other night has helped him gain some confidence to participate in the poetry contest taking place in their city. It was a big step on his part and he wasn't planning on backing out.
Suddenly a ting sound of the doorbell brought Ishaan from his thoughts, he got of from his study table and went downstairs knowing it was Aditya since they had decided study together as the periodic tests were around the corner.
"Good morning Aunty", Aditya greeted in his charming voice.
"Good morning Beta (son/child). Come", Ishaan's mother greeted with a smile.
Aditya put the book bag on his shoulders on top of the shoe rack and put his shoes under it which was resting beside the main door.
"Arey beta (Oh child/son), you should have kept them", his mother offered indicating the shoes to which Aditya replied with a 'it's okay'.
After entering inside, his eyes met Ishaan's,"Hey", he greeted.
Ishaan greeted back with a smile and asked,"Come sanitise yourself and you can take the mask off ".
Then turning to his mother he said,"Maa(Mother). We are upstairs, if you need something just call me".
His mother nodded at him in return and they both went upstairs to Ishaan's room.
