Song above if you wanted to listen to it
... You wanted this, reactiontolife. Don't blame me for how angsty this is
WARNING: Feelings were hurt in the making of this song fic (as were mine writing it), this is bad writing... like.... really bad writing, there's a graveyard at one point so... death

Sometimes when I look in the mirror
I still see your face resting on my shoulder

Virgil pulled his hood up over his head and caught a glimpse of himself in the mirror. He couldn't help but imagine Logan wrapping his arms around Virgil and resting his head on his shoulder, despite the height difference making it 'illogical' to do that.

"You nearly ready?" He could almost hear Logan ask.

"Nearly." He muttered, his voice hoarse and dry. "Nearly."

And my heart beats so fast
That I start to feel alive again

Virgil put a pale hand over his chest where his heart would be, if it was still there. Despite not having felt his heart beat in years, he could've sworn that just the thought of Logan stirred it to a steady pace.

"I really wasn't lying," he thought, "when I said you make me feel alive again." He didn't even need to say it out loud. He knew Logan would understand, now that he was only living in Virgil's mind.

And the rain, it washes away all the pain

Virgil looked up at the grey sky before going out into his garden.

"Do you suppose it will rain?" Logan asked. Virgil looked up, he could've sworn he heard that out loud this time, but there was no one there. No Logan there. It was all just in his mind.

"I hope so." He mumbled to himself, sitting down on the patio steps.

A drop of rain hit his hood and he looked up to the sky, smiling a little as the rain began to fall. He had hoped that it would rain today.

'Cause it feels like the sound of your voice

"Still like the rain?" Logan asked, sitting down next to him. Virgil nodded, his eyes closed. "Why?"

"It's one of the only things that doesn't hurt when it reminds me of you."

And I'm comforted by the sweet smells of dew
Because the sunrise reminds me of you

The rain had stopped. But this early in the morning the dew from the grass and the rain combined stopped any pain coming back to Virgil just yet.

Soft red and gold light started to appear over the horizon. Virgil shielded his eyes as he watched the sun rise slowly.

He remember the soft click of a camera almost every morning, when Logan had been up early enough to take a photo of the sunrise.

"It gives me joy that such serenity could still survive in nature after all these years." Had been Logan's explanation whenever Virgil had asked him why he loved the sunrise so much. "And it's just pretty, okay?" That had always made Virgil laugh.

Virgil laughed now. The sound was soft and sad, nothing like how it'd sounded when he'd laughed with Logan.

The laugh disappeared with Virgil's smile. He sighed and got up heavily.

"I miss you, Lo."

And I'll always find you again and again

"Hey, um, are you open?"

Virgil looked up slightly from the book he was reading. "Oh, yeah. Sorry, did I forget to change the sign again?" He asked, getting up and putting the book away.

"Uh, no. I just... well, I wanted to check because, um, it's rude to intrude."

"Little anxious too, huh?"

"Yeah, a little."

"I know how you feel. Anyway, what can I do for you?" Virgil looked up at the person for the first time and he nearly fell over.

"Um, I'm the new employee? Logan Brown?"

Virgil blinked a few times before shaking his head slightly. "Oh, right. Sorry, um, I'm all over the place today. New employee, right. Um, well Logan, I'm Virgil. Summers, Virgil Summers. My dad owns the bookshop."

"Pleasure to meet you." Logan said, smiling slightly.

And I'll love every version of you

"Hey, um, Logan?"

"Mhm?" Logan asked, not looking away from shelfing books.

Virgil twisted and knotted his hands behind his back. Why was this always so difficult?

"Um, would you maybe want to go out with me sometime? Like, um, on a date?"

Logan looked at the shorter boy, surprised. "You're being serious?"

Virgil nodded slightly, hugging his elbows behind his back.

"I, uh, I'd love to." Logan said, straightening his glasses and smiling a little.

"Seriously?" Logan nodded a little shyly. "Oh my God, that... that's amazing. I'll um, I'll see you at eight, then?"

Logan nodded. "See you at eight."

And you're never truly gone
As long as a part of you in me lives on

Virgil pulled his hood up over his head and grabbed some flowers off his table. He locked his door behind him, double checked it and left.

He walked for a while, keeping his head down and his eyes to the pavement. Virgil knew where he was going. He'd been there many times before.

Carefully, Virgil wound his way between the new graves, looking at their clean, untouched surfaces and studying them, trying to find who he was looking for.

Logan Brown

There. Virgil bent down and placed the flowers on the grave gently. He stood up and looked at the grave for a while, hands in his pockets.

"Bye Lo." He whispered. "I'll see you soon, yeah?"

Well, now I'm crying. You wanted this, Alex, I hope it's fine because let it be know I will never write something this angsty ever again.
Bye,
Blaize
