It wasn't always easy
Growing up we had our fights

"Fuck you, Janus! Why can't you just be happy for me for once?"

"Yeah, happy." Janus retorted. "Why wouldn't I be happy that someone I trust is leaving me?"

"I'm not leaving yet, they've just made the offer. And don't act like they'd ever choose you. Thomas would never accept you!"

Though we wouldn't say it
We wanted to play nice

Janus gave up and slammed his door closed. Virgil glared after him for a few seconds before feeling guilt wash over him.

"Maybe I should apologise." He thought. "It wasn't nice, what I said about him never being accepted." But he didn't make any moves to try and amend what he'd said.

I can safely say we're friends
And that I love you too
But years ago that wouldn't happen
Because I didn't get you

Now, Virgil could accept that he'd liked Janus for quite a long time. Ever since Janus had been accepted by at least Patton, Virgil's old feelings had begun to come back. He and Janus had even become sort of friends again.

"God, how long have I been in love with Jan?" Virgil wondered. "It can't have been after I left the Dark Sides, I never saw him then. Guess I'd never accept that I like him. Cause we were 'too different'."

Oh, it's complicated
And I need to say it

Janus raised a hand to knock on Virgil's door but stopped. He and Virgil were friends and Patton had insisted that Virgil had feelings for him but Janus wasn't sure. What if Patton was calling his bluff? And what if Virgil had just got confused. Seeing an old friend you ended terms with badly complicates emotions quite a lot. The door opened and Virgil walked out, nearly walking into Janus.

"Jesus Christ. Jan?" Virgil using his nickname made Janus' heart flutter more than it probably should've. Virgil used nicknames for everyone, Janus wasn't special for having one. "What are you doing standing outside my room?"

"Um, uh-"

"Are you going to stand there all day or just come out and say it?"

'Cause time is fading away
I should've said it sooner

"Don't run away, don't run away, don't run away." Janus muttered to himself. "Don't make the same mistake as last time." He knocked on Virgil's door. "His reaction should tell you enough about what he feels about you." He reminded himself as the emo opened the door. Janus had prepared for everything... except for an adorable, tired Virgil with no make-up, messy hair and an over-sized hoodie making him look even smaller than normal.

"You gonna explain what's so important that you needed to wake me up?"

"Uh..."

"Oh dear Lord, not this again. If you're going to stand there malfunctioning like Logan does whenever he comes within an inch of Remus, spare me. If you've got something to say, say it."

"Uh, sorry. I do need to say something. Something I probably should've said sooner."

Who knows what's in the future
But now I need you to know
That I love you
You know it's true

"I think I have feelings for you." Janus said, not looking at Virgil and playing with his gloves. "And I know I lie about a lot of things but you need to know that what I'm saying, I mean. I think I love you, Virgil."

"You're serious?"

You don't need to say it back to me
Because I know you do

"I, um, yeah."

"Jan, look at me." Hesitantly, Janus met Virgil's eyes. "You probably don't want me to say it back, you're smart enough to know whether or not your feelings are requited, but I do too. I think I love you."

Damn, this shit be short. *Violet screams in the background at my horrid misuse of grammar* Hope you enjoyed, Marilyn.
Bye,
Blaize
