"There's more to life."
That's what Mayu wants Kyoya to understand deeply. She wants to help him make beautiful memories with every heartbeat's cost. It's better than waiting for it to stop, right?
And now their plan starts.
The look on Kyoya's face when she took him to eat street food was something worth remembering. The hesitation, disgust, intrigue, and curiosity, really piled in Kyoya's head.
Sure enough, the satisfied face Kyoya makes after his first bite was enough to tell how he was really enjoying their expedition. "My father's going to kill me first before my heart does if he found out I'm eating this clearly unsanitary, unhealthy, cheap thing... but it'd be worth it!" Kyoya jokes as he takes another bite.
"Nah, I won't let him do that. This is just the beginning, you know?" Mayu laughs along before eating a bite of her own food. "This is the first time I've tried this and be in this place. It's like a flea market but with food! How did you even find this?" Kyoya asks in awe.
"Well, I had a reputation in the higher society for being adventurous and reckless, you know?" Mayu smiles. "Thanks for taking me here..." Kyoya pats Mayu's head before continuing to eat.
"Are you happy?" She asks.
"Yes, very much. Why do you ask?"
"Well, I'm kinda responsible for making your five months the best experience you'll ever have and I am serious about it, so sit back, relax, and enjoy your memories made with me!" Mayu winks and Kyoya just laughs along, "aye aye, captain Mayumi."—
Every weekend, both Kyoya and Mayu would go to places with a little bribing to Kyoya's chauffeur to not tell his dad, just like today.
The two were now in a public park with a picnic set. Mayu was grilling barbecue (insisting that he has to try outdoor barbecue as it goes well with her other self-made dishes) while Kyoya just kept the kite they just used in one of the bags they brought.
After eating, they talked about a lot of stuff, watch the skies, roll on the grass, or dip their feet on the river, as if forgetting they were carrying around their big surnames and just being normal high school teenagers.
The two sat on the open field as Kyoya awed at the setting sun. "Beautiful, isn't it?" Kyoya asks Mayu with his gaze still on the orange horizon.
"It really is..." Mayu softly trails off a reply, eyes locked on the man beside her, enamored at the sight.
—
"I will die..." Kyoya says as he pales at the sight when Mayu dragged his ass to an amusement park; the first place he shouldn't be in, considering his condition.
"Oh, come on! You'll definitely regret not riding this for the rest of your life!" Mayu exaggerates. "Plus, we both wanted to do something a little more thrilling than last time. You promised." Mayu pouts clinging onto Kyoya's right arm while pointing at the biggest roller coaster on the park.
"THAT is not a little." Kyoya reason out pointing at the deadly ride and air quoting the last two words.
"It can't be that bad! Besides... I'm here with you!" Mayu takes Kyoya's right hand and squeezes it with hers. "I won't let anything bad happen to you, so the question now... Ootori-san, do you trust me?"
Kyoya squeezes her hand back. "I trust you with my everything." He replies before the two headed for the coaster.
"You were right! It wasn't that bad at all! I want to go try the other ones next!" Turns out, Kyoya loved the adrenaline inducing rides while Mayu was splayed on the nearest bench, dizzy and one step away from puking. "Never again." Mayu grunts as Kyoya laughed at Mayu's state before finally deciding to help ease her dizziness and the churn of her stomach. Real friends really laugh at your misery first before helping you out, don't they?
—
News flash! Mayu taught Kyoya how to ride a motorbike and he loved it. At first he was skeptical because how in the world did she learn how to ride a motorbike, but then learned that her eldest brother taught her.
Kyoya learns too fast actually, that by the weekend he already mastered it. "Can I drive you home?"
"I think it's too early for that, mister."
"Come on, have a little faith on your best student please... Mimori-san, do you trust me?" Kyoya invites as he held up a helmet to her."I trust you with my everything" Mayu smiles before putting the helmet on and situating herself at the back side of the motorbike.
Kyoya then took her arms and wrapped it around his waist. "Hold on tight Mayumi, I don't want to let anything bad happen to you." Mayu blushes at what Kyoya said.
Thank God he can't see my face right now. Mayu thought.
The cool dusk breeze hits Mayu's face so she rests her head on Kyoya's broad back, rubbing her cheeks on the leather jacket he wore in order to lessen the cold.
"Can I tell you something?" Mayu suddenly asks.
"You're definitely going to regret it, so I think it's better if you don't." Kyoya replies, still driving, after a good three seconds of silence.
"You're right... it's better if I don't..." Mayu trails off blinking a few tears away.
Of course Kyoya knows, and of course she can't say it. How stupid of her to forget that Kyoya will eventually leave. Too stupid that even when she knows, she still can't stop herself from falling for the man in her embrace.
The breeze doesn't even compare to the coldness of the silent ride.
—
Everything went back to normal after that incident happened and Mayu never dared to mention it again to Kyoya.
They continued their weekendventures until now. They have two months left 'til graduation but that is after the school festival.
