[N O T E - this chapter contains mention of self- harm]

"Amidst the silence of sincere words, never had I fathomed the first tear drop, being the key to the closet of locked memories and thus bringing in a reason for you to detest me"
- Ranbir Kohli

A few days passed but none could forget the other. He hadn't been able to find out about her, considering he knew practically nothing about her. He also had a few performances to be done and so his attention diverted to it. But in the silences of the night, the first time he had gazed at her face, the way it looked would keep him awake and in untamed curiosity and unfathomable bliss.

She on the other hand had increased her share of self-torture, just so that the numbing pain would evade the thoughts of him frequenting her mind. The way she had built herself over years couldn't crumble just like that! He was the warmth which would thaw her iced self and that's precisely why, she pulled over curtains of detest, just so to hide what she did not want to name, something which would be her end in such a way that she wouldn't be able to revive herself ever again!

The sound of the scissors chopping away at yet another letter echoed in the quiet ambience. Just as she was about to chop the next one, her hand halted abruptly at a light red envelope, which was unlike the other brown and white envelopes. Something in her compelled her towards opening the letter. Placing the scissors on the floor, she picked up the envelope and tore it open.

Dear Author,

Night sky -
Embedded in words
are feelings so deep
(This is a haiku written by me)

Bestowed with gift of words are you, weaving these tales which are the only ones I value the most as much as my music. For any musician, his music is his ultimate passion. But if there's something equalling it, they are your stories.

"And in the many stories written one can find, her own universe. Reality or imagination, it's still hers"

She could read no further!

A gentle caress on her head made her look up with a wide smile on her face.

"Papa, you read it?"

"It's marvellous gudiya! This one's so different from your other stories"

She smiled wide, elated that her story was loved by her father and said

" Thank you Papa! But how is this one different from my other stories?"

He smiled with affection and said

"And in the many stories written one can find, her own universe. Reality or imagination, it's still hers"

A lone tear slipped down her eyes betraying her ice cold stance since years.

"He sold you to us! That gives us the liberty to do whatever we want with you! So you better zip up and quietly obey us!"

Like that day all those years back, she dropped down on the floor, her head in her hand. The letter with the exact same words her father had spoken years back proved to be the key to the closet of buried memories of yesteryears, in which she hid her deepest pains. Stuffing it all in, she had locked and pushed it away within herself, with lots of efforts to come to this particular present that she's in. But once unlocked, this was potent enough to break all that she had built over years.

The door had opened which meant all those buried memories of years had slithered out, stabbing her heart similarly to how it had done all those years back!

"No!!!" she yelled out collapsing on the ground completely, trying her best to push those memories back. Her efforts did not go waste as she remembered that one instance which transformed her completely.

Wasted away she lay, tears too abandoning her. Wasn't dying better than leading this life of misery which was nothing but slow poison?
The faded glint of hope that had lingered till now too had left her, her orbs eerily shallow.

Her dreams were crushed, her self-esteem robbed, her hopes shattered and yet she was breathing! How could she still remain breathing when everything of hers was lost?
Her orbs then fell on the broken piece of glass on the ground. She dragged herself towards it and with great difficulty picked it up.
As soon as she did, she directed it towards her bruised flesh!
The blood trickling down and the immense pain which would make any person shout had a contradictory effect on her - she felt soothed and relieved.
Another cut, some more relief!
The more the cuts, the more the relief. She did not realise when she blacked out, her body exhausted of the cuts but her mind extremely satiated.
As it's said, poison cuts poison. And so similarly, pain cuts pain.

Since that particular day, she had started transforming bit by bit, turning every ounce of her to splinters, as sharp as knives and as cold as ice!
