A little bit of music to comprehend your words. The begining of the next round - let's see who wins.
-Ranbir Kohli

He reached home and immediately reread the verses he had clicked the photos of. Everything right from the moment he met her to her responses and words to her watching his tormented form stoically to that locked room in her house. Everything played in his mind like a movie but he couldn't comprehend much from them. They were all scattered bits of fog which were concealing much more than revealing but which had to be cleared to understand who she really is. And he knew he had to! He had to comprehend! He had to understand what has happened such that a writer who emotes her characters so well isn't able to have it in her own self! He had to know why she was so enigmatic, why she had responded such to his letter! He had to know why she stayed so alone and away from people and why that room in her house was locked! He had to know why her stories always were tragic and happiness was foreign in all her stories! He had to know why she strived to hate him and destroy him! He had to know and he will, he resolved!

He closed his eyes and took few deep breaths. Calming himself down, he left to refresh so that he could think this over with a fresh mind.

He roamed about in his room, restless and in thought, her verses repeating in his mind again and again, trying to match it with the interactions with her and her reactions so far but to no avail. He was a musician damn it! And to feel the song he comprehended the verses first. To feel the rhythm he had to feel the depth of the words first. And here he was unable to comprehend the meaning of few of her verses! He raked his fingers through his hairs and sighed deeply. Damn he dint even have his guitar with him since he had given for repairing after the damage it suffered.

"Ranbir, this isn't helping you in anyway! Just calm down! Give it a break for few mins" he spoke to himself and settled on the couch, switching on a random playlist from his phone.

Bol do na zara
Dil me jo hain chupa
Main kisise kahunga nahi

It was that moment, the moment of epiphany where he realised something. Of course it was so evident. He thanked himself for playing this playlist and the song of course. He had got the answers to two of his questions, knowing which he felt all the more determined to do something to heal her.

He immediately played the next few songs hoping they would give him some more insight too.

I hurt myself today
To see if I still feel
I focus on the pain
The only thing that's real
The needle tears a hole
The old familiar sting
Try to kill it all away
But I remember everything
What have I become?
My sweetest friend
Everyone I know goes away
In the end
And you could have it all
My empire of dirt
I will let you down
I will make you hurt
I wear this crown of thorns
Upon my liar's chair
Full of broken thoughts
I cannot repair

His eyes teared up as he remembered the third verse
A small streak, scarlet drops
Silver lined with red hues
The deeper it delves, the more it helps
Finally numbing it with glacial dews

What had happened such that she ....he couldn't bring himself to speak it.
Maybe she had just cut out all her emotions, let them flow out and put her withered self back. But could she conceal what was still there? No she couldn't! So when she chose to be blind to them, they found another way out. But consciously she could never register and hence the solace in hurt.

"No Prachi! No! Nothing can be so worse that you're doing this to yourself! No! I can't allow this! I won't allow this!" he breathed out, tears stinging his eyes.

A week later

He sneakily climbed in through the window soundlessly despite knowing she wasn't at home. He walked directly towards that locked room and opened the lock within 20 mins. The classes with Kaka did help.

The door creaked as he pushed it open and a bout of sneezes errupted from him due to the dust. He wiped his nose and pulling out his hanky from his pocket, tied it covering his mouth and nose.

It took him a moment to adjust to the darkness within the room after which he searched for the light switch which he got after an endeavour of 5 more mins!

He looked around and found everything covered in white sheets coated with dust. This place had truly not been visited since years!

He looked around not understanding where to start. He then just walked up the a random side and pulled the sheets. There were two wooden boxes. He opened both and found loads of certificates and medals. He picked up few certificates from each box. The first few had Prachi's name while the rest few had some Pranati Mehra's name. Who was Pranati Mehra he wondered but decided to think over it later. He had to find something more useful before the Ice Maiden returned.

"Arey wah! So the Ice Maiden has a habit of winning things from small!"he murmured to himself.

He then moved towards the opposite corner and pulled the sheets to reveal a big wooden trunk. He opened it and was amazed to find anklets, colourful costumes, alta, long braids, artificial flowers, few black leggings and huge earrings. Below all were a few photos and CDs.
The photos had two young girls dressed in typical Bharatnatyam costume and smiling at the camera holding a mudra in their hands!

Hey guys,

Do share your views

PS: Sorry Ranbir's words at the beginning haven't really turned out good. I'll change them when I get a better verse in my head

Love,
Pratyusha
