"Curing you had come as a natural wish, for I knew your enigmatic persona was for a reason. If only I had known earlier, the wounds that plague you run deep, such that they could be healed only with pain of another!"
-Ranbir Kohli
For how long he stood there shocked, he wasn't aware of till the biting cold became too difficult to stand. He wrapped the jacket around himself and moved to his house.
He entered the house, completely in quandary as even after a long thought, he couldn't place a finger on what had triggered her such. He sat on the sofa, running his hands over his hair and closed his eyes, sighing.
Ranbir had seen a lot of people and understood them as well. From genuine people to the fake, from the damsels in distress to knights in shinning armour, he had seen them all. Being a musician had enabled him to also follow his passion of travelling and that was how he had come across people from many walks of life.
But never had he come across a person like her. His mind took him back to the instant she had opened her eyes in rage and how she looked in that moment of silence, when with their eyes locked, a language beyond words was spoken.
Her eyes held a blazing fire but now that he took in their sight again, captured in his mind's eye, he could see what was impossible practically - ice holding within it fire! While just her eyes were mystic, her demeanour showed she was an enigma he wished to decode!
Walking down on the paths of life all alone, with no companion or guide and without a single complaint, this was the first time his heart had felt something - the need for someone! His amber eyes which reflected the depths of his pure heart which held nothing but joy, warmth and empathy, now also held a determination and a feeling which couldn't be named as yet.
He was a person who minded his own business and did not like intruding into someone's life. But for the first time, in an encounter with a woman so distinct, a meeting so different, the need to intrude into her life, to know her, to cure her, did not feel wrong. It felt right! In all sense!

Reaching her home she banged the door shut. Her nails were still painfully dug into her hands but she was still oblivious to it. She picked up whatever came to her hands and hurled it in immense anger. She felt extremely turbulent, something she had not in years. All because of one person!
Inadvertently his image from that brief moment their eyes had locked clouded her mind. He had everything she wanted to keep herself away from! The warmth, the care - these were the things she had been bereft of since years. There had been a point in her life when she craved for these. But now, they were all that she detested.
The warmth from his jacket still persisted on her body, making her extremely agitated. She immediately headed towards the shower and stripping herself of her clothes, let the ice cold water drench her body, running over her wounds, helping her get rid of that warmth which had persisted. Her body shook due to the cold but a smile played over her chattering mouth, satiating her turbulent being by numbing her with its torture.
After about 15 mins, she stepped out and dressed in a loose t-shirt and pant. Picking up her sheets, she settled at her wooden desk and began writing something.

It was the 50th letter that had hit the floor in a moment of 5 mins! Not one had been opened. All that was done with them was flinging them behind her, cutting it exactly into half using a scissors.
These letters were the fan letters and appreciation letters received by the publishing house, addressed to her. But she wouldn't read them. No way! She couldn't afford to love herself ever again.
It is better she detests herself like she does now for that's the only way she'll be strong. That's the only way she can shield herself.
The more detached you get with something, the lesser it effects you. And that's why growing distant from herself too was deemed fit. Cutting those beholders of appreciation, love and respect was basically eliminating anything that would have her like herself even a bit!

A dulcet symphony reverberated in the silence of the night accompanied by even tunes of the guitar strumming along. A distant feeling with a tinge of melancholy was palpable in his voice. His eyes were closed even as silent tears cascaded down his eyes, leaving their mark on his glowing visage.
The crickets seemed to coordinate with his symphony as they wove their tunes along with his own, a musical concert set on its own accord. The glimmering moon and the stars embedded in the night sky seemed to slowly sway to the concert, all celebrating his melancholy as if to convey like each time, he wasn't alone.
A small smile formed on his face expressing his gratitude to the nature and his celestial friends for yet again being there for him. With this came the remembrance of the resolve taken - the ice maiden concealing a fire had to be found!
