"Light it up!" The boys holding a torch threw it into the bonfire, lighting it up. Everyone cheered.

Well, except the Icers.

The small group of four stood on the side quietly, unsure of what to do. Newt walked over to them.

"Not having fun?" he asked, a grin on his face. Not a smirk, but a genuine smile. More people needed to do that here.

"Just... thinking," Harriet said.

"About?"

"The Maze. WICKED. Us getting here."

"Don't put too much thought into that, we'll probably never know how you got here. Just relax and have some fun," Newt said. A cheer erupted from the crowd of Gladers.

"Who's next?" Gally challenged. He had just successfully pushed a Glader out of the circle of boys and was now looking around, a smirk on his face.

"You think you're so great," Alex muttered before marching through the crowd.

"You think you can beat me?" Gally laughed. "You're just a girl."

"Let's see how much that theory changes when your sorry ass is on the ground."

A few people snickered. Gally's smirk turned into a sneer.

Alex stretched her arms and cracked her knuckles and neck before stepping in front of Gally.

"Go easy on her!" a Glader shouted.

Alex looked at Gally. "Give me your best shot."

Then they fought. (I don't know how to write a fight scene oops.)

"How does it feel to get your ass kicked by a girl?" Alex asked slyly, her arm on Gally's neck, holding him down. A collection of "Ooooo"s came from the surrounding Gladers as Alex helped Gally up. As he tried to knock her down, she stepped aside, causing him to land on the ground once more. "I thought I told you to give me your best shot."

Everyone sat around the large bonfire, laughing and talking, overall having a good time.

Except for Sonya. She was standing in the back silently, almost unable to be seen due to her distance from the flames' light.

Just like he always did, Newt noticed this. Knowing he couldn't leave her alone when she should be enjoying herself, he asked Harriet, "She okay?"

Harriet looked at her friend, then back at Newt, sighing. "Throughout all my years in the Spring, not one of my memories has come back to me, nor has anyone else's. Aside from Sonya. She claims to remember having an older brother, but not his name or what he looks like. When Aris came, she jumped to conclusions, claiming that he was her brother. We all debated on this and came to the conclusion that he wasn't her brother. I think the knowledge that she has or had a brother out there is her main source of motivation. Now that we're in a place with only boys, I guess she thinks..."

"That someone from the Glade is her brother?" Newt asked.

"I think so." Harriet sighed before continuing, "But when she finally accepted that Aris wasn't her brother... I don't want her to ever be like that again. She was heartbroken and hasn't been the same since."

"What do you mean?"

"Well, before I became leader, we were best friends. We told each other everything, not that there was much to talk about, but Ximena died around the same time Aris came, so Sonya was still onto her 'brother' conspiracy," Harriet said. "I guess with Ximena's death and Aris not being her brother, she grew distant, more quiet. She kept to herself more than she ever has before. When we started planning to leave the Spring, she was determined to get out of there. And I mean, there's a pretty high chance that someone here is her brother, but again, I don't wanna jump to conclusions."

"I think she's dead."Where stories live. Discover now
