Your Number's Up (Scream)

WHAT IF: Randy and Sarah didn't die?

Welcome to the first What If scenario! These fun little bonuses are here to look at things in the story and see how they could have been different. Unlike the one shots, these will be more of a summary of how I see events playing out. To start it off, I thought we'd take a look at what I think is one of the biggest changes: What if Randy and Sarah survived the events of parts 2 and 3 respectively.

To start this what if, we're going back to the events of Part 2, and around the start of Chapter 10 in this story. Everything up until this point still happens as it did before. Sarah and Randy are in the quad with Gale, Dewey, and Joel when Ghostface calls. Sarah answers, and she and Randy try to distract the killer while Gale and Dewey try to locate her (because while they don't know yet, this is Debbie they're looking for.) However, when Randy tries to get Sarah to help in the search, she refuses, choosing to stay. As the two slowly approach the news van where Debbie in the Ghostface costume is hiding, Sarah would just barely catch a glimpse of movement or the mask itself to realize what's going on. She is able to warn her boyfriend, even pushing him out of the way just as the van door opens and she is pulled inside instead. She and Ghostface get into a struggle, but to her surprise, Ghostface doesn't try to kill her. She is only injured as Ghostface makes her escape, with Randy being too distracted with making sure Sarah is okay. Gale and Dewey find them, and Sarah is given medical attention before they are brought to the police station. The scene in the library with Sidney still happens as per normal.

At the police station, Chief Hartley tells the three Woodsboro survivors that they will be taken somewhere safe until Ghostface is caught, with Hallie joining them. They are taken back to the dorms to get their stuff before they head out. Now here, I debated on whether or not to keep the one car or use 2 cars, but I also had to take into account that Mickey in the Ghostface costume does hijack the one in the original, and had to figure out how he would get two. So, I'm going to present both options.

One car: Similar to the original with both detectives in the driver and passenger seats, and the kids in the back (Hallie on driver side, Sidney on passenger side, Randy in the middle, and Sarah somewhat awkwardly on top of them.) Ghostface takes the car and crashes it while killing both detectives in the process. The kids carefully get out (Sarah, Sidney, Randy, Hallie) and Ghostface ambushes and kills Hallie.

Two cars: So instead of cramming 6 people into a 5 person car, they decide to take 2 cars, each with two of the kids and driven by one of the detectives. Car 1 has Richards, Sidney, and Hallie, while Car 2 has Andrews, Sarah, and Randy. Ghostface will go after Car 1 and crash it, with Car 2 will try to give chase to stop the killer and get the girls. However, this one also gets crashed. Sidney and Hallie are able to get out like in the original, but it would take a bit more to get Sarah and Randy. Shortly after, Ghostface kills Hallie. 

Making it back to campus, the kids find themselves in the theatre, and Mickey reveals himself as Ghostface before killing Derek. A fight breaks out, and Mickey looks like he might be in trouble given that now it is a 3v1. For the sake of balance, Randy will get shot and fall into the orchestra pit in a similar manner to what will happen to Gale moments later. Debbie later shows up and reveals herself as the other Ghostface, and the final showdown more or less happens like before.

Now, we move into Part 3. This one was a bit harder to figure out honestly, but hear me out on this one. Our group is hiding out, Sarah and Sidney still sharing a house, and Randy on his own (they all keep in touch.) Similar to before, they're kinda just hanging out and not getting super involved until Ghostface calls the girls, and the group meets up with Dewey, Gale, and Kincaid. They all head to the Stab 3 set and meet up with Rose, and we get a different version of the trilogy rules explanation. Everyone groups off to do their own searching, and Ghostface once more goes after Sidney and Sarah. The girls are sent back with Kincaid while Randy and the adults go talk to Milton and get tricked by Ghostface to go to Roman's party. The Stab cast are each killed off, leaving Dewey, Randy, and Gale. 

Back at the station, Sarah is called by Ghostface, who taunts both her and Sidney before telling both girls to come find him or their friends get it. The girls arm themselves and head out to Milton's, where they save the others before Ghostface attacks again. With just the girls and Ghostface in the screening room, the killer reveals himself as Roman, and their fight breaks out. This time, he will have less of an advantage against the two girls, and will only be able to knock Sarah out instead of killing her. The rest of the fight will play out as it did before, but this time, we will be going with the alternate ending of Sarah killing Roman and getting that "Now we're even" line in.

From here, we could continue into Part 4, but, I still haven't seen it yet, and I honestly don't see much changing, so we'll end it here. Hope you guys enjoyed this what if, and be on the look out for more in the future! Also, feel free to leave ideas for any you want me to cover!
