Going Once, Going Twice

"Adam! You get back over here!" Phil yelled.

"You know what," Adam turned around, "I am done with it! Screw all of you!".

Adam got on his horse and rode away. Phil kicked over a bucket, he seemed frustrated.
Everyone sat at the fire in silence while eating dinner. Phil and Adam had been yelling at each other about the job today. The job is tomorrow night.

"Adam isn't doing the job anymore" Phil spoke as he sat down.

"So it's just you and Winston going out front?" Sam asked Phil.

Phil shrugged, "I guess so. If he even does anymore, Winston has been silent since we found him".

"Should we get someone to go with you out front?" I asked.

Phil took a second and then nodded.

"I'm sure Lyle would," I smiled, "He said he can do whatever you wanted him to".

"Then he can come up front with me. I'm sure that'll work".

It was quiet for the rest of dinner. Everyone went to bed, Pa and Orville sat by the fire with me. All having a beer in hand.

"So tomorrow night is the night guys" I took a sip.

"I gotta say, I'm quite excited" Pa smiled.

I nodded.

"I can't wait to have our own place. A home, we can sit by the fire every night after dinner at a dinner table. We can play the guitar, sing, and have a beer. All of this done in peace" Orville added.

I smiled.

"How much do we have together before the robbery?" Pa asked.

I thought for a moment, "We have 3000 together. That'll be enough to buy the land".

Orville, Pa and I cheersed.

"So if anything goes really wrong and we get separated, try to meet at camp. Does that sound good?" I spoke.

The two nodded.

Soon after, we went to bed.

I woke up bright and early. Today, I went immediately to Dean's office. Lyle and I agreed on it.

"Morning" I smiled as I hitched my horse.

Lyle smirked, "Hello".

"Excited for tonight?" I asked.

Lyle nodded, "Let's just have one more morning".

The two of us waited for Dean to let us in.

Dean rode up, "Morning you two, not waiting too long I hope".

"Not at all" I smiled.

Dean let us in and he started making coffee. Lyle and I sat down.

"So, today is the big day. I don't have y'all for long" Dean poured three cups of coffee.

I nodded, "Phil is gonna wanna go over some things with us. Speaking of which, there were changes to the plan".

Lyle and Dean both looked concerned.

"Adam dropped out".

"Serious?" Lyle asked.

I nodded, "So you're gonna go up with Phil".

Lyle took a second and nodded, "Okay. That's not that big of a deal".

"I hope that kid is okay. He's been worrying me" Dean spoke.
