It's been three months since we first bought the property, got out, made a real living. Been a long and hard three months.
I haven't been doing great, but nobody really knows. If they do know, they don't talk about it. I keep getting flashbacks to Kensington. My one good memory with my dad tainted, all those days with Lyle and Dean tainted.
But today, today is the real beginning.
Today is the day we put the finishing touches on everything. The barn, the silo, the farm, the house, everything.
Lyle and Pa are taking care of the work stuff, I'm taking care of the house and any extras. They don't really care what I do to it. As long as it's not crazy, I'm not crazy anyway.
It's been nice the last couple months waking up in my own room. In a house. I woke up, made some coffee, then got a carriage to go to town. The sun was still rising.
"Hey there Justin" I walked into the hardware store.
"Good morning there!" Justin smiled, "Come to pick up the appliances for the house?".
I nodded, "You bet".
"Alright. Follow me out here... what's your name?" Justin asked.
I took a second, "Amira".
"Amira? A nice ring to it. I feel like I've heard that name before" Justin walked over to the storage room.
"Probably have. Long story".
"Everything should be in here. I'll help you bring everything in and set it up. Seems like you might need the help".
I laughed a little, "Definitely".
Justin and I got every appliance onto the two carriages. We managed to fit everything nicely on the two.
"Coming back to get some stuff to build furniture after?" Justin asked.
I nodded, "Yeah. Just around and around for me today. Finally finished everything today, and now we're just putting the finishing touches on".
"Have you ever had your own bed before? I just remember you talking about having no bathrooms before. I got curious"
I smirked, "No sir".
"You must've lived a crazy life then madam" Justin hopped on his carriage.
I laughed a little, "You have no idea".
"You lead the way".
I started riding over to the farm. Justin followed in his carriage behind me. As we got there, I saw Lyle and Dean putting the last few touches on the barn.
Justin and I parked the carriages and started unloading all of the appliances into the house.
He handed me the instructions for the appliances, then we got to work. I mostly handed him things, told him what to do, or held something if need be. I didn't really have much to do with it. For that, I was thankful.Justin and I then tested the appliances out and made some lunch. Everything seemed to be in working order. Everyone came inside from working, and we all had lunch together. Dean thanked Justin for helping me out.
Then the two of us went back to the store to grab the furniture kits.
"Now I'm gonna help you bring everything there. Did you need help setting everything up? Or are you alright?" Justin asked.
I took a second to think, "I should be alright.
Thank you though".Justin finished putting everything into the carriages. He then followed me back up to the farm, then unloaded everything on the front porch. Justin said his goodbyes, and he was off.
