I Fought The Law

It's been near 3 months since the ambush happened. Crazy one person has to go through 2 different law ambushes in a life time.

The last two months, Sam and I have gotten closer. Jessa left a month and a half ago for good. It's been nice to have a close friend again. Still, acting like I'm okay makes me sick. I find myself alone on my little island crying and screaming into my sleeve after a day.

It's exhausting.

"I've got a big one!" Pa called out.

"Holy shit Jim!" Phil laughed.

I opened my eyes and stumbled out of my cot. Pa dragged a huge moose into camp.

"We're gonna be eating for weeks" Pa smiled at Phil.

"Go get her ready for cooking," Phil looked at me, "Morning Amira".

I waved.

"Hey" Sam smiled at me.

"Mornin".

"I feel spontaneous today. I've been cooped up for too long" Sam spoke.

I sat beside him at the fire, "Last time you said that you killed an important lawman the next day".

Sam laughed a little, "I think you and I should do something. Without Phil and them knowing and..."

Sam looked around.

"What?".

"Winston".

I nodded.

"I need to get out, I need to rob. We're starting to run out of money and I think it would be a big help".

"You're just finding an excuse to rob someone" I smirked.

"Something".

I looked at him.

"The bank in Samsmith".

"Really? No plan?" I felt concerned.

"Yeah. It'll be fucking beautiful" Sam lit a smoke.

"Maybe that's a little too much without a plan Sam. Especially with only two people".

"Smith is a small town, it'll be a nice little refresher" Sam handed me a cigarette.

I took it and lit it, "But we also gotta be careful with all the law around recently".

"Winston hasn't said nothin".

I took a second, "Youre right about that".

"That should mean something".

"Yeah, something like that"

It was quiet for a moment.

Sam looked at me, "You in?".

"Ah fuck it. Why not? I feel like killing some fucking law".

Sam nodded, "Same here".

"When do you wanna go?".

"Right now" Sam got up and walked over to his horse.

"You're not serious?" I got up and followed.

Sam laughed, "Of course I'm serious! Let's go!".

We got on our horses.

"Where y'all going?" Phil asked.

"Gods work!" Sam spoke as his horse started running.

I laughed as we rode away from camp, "Thats horrible!".
