(P.S.: This is terrible tbh.)

"I do not know."

Danny shrugged. "It's just my hair is red and I wear red and blue so why do they have to be red and blue?"

I laughed. "I don't know."

We heard clapping behind us and a male voice say, "They're red and blue because they fight for water and earth-slash-magma."

Danny turned around quickly, a bit too quickly, and tripped over her shoe strings.

I just barely turned fast enough to see her fall. My laughter echoed through the trees as I hugged my stomach.

A boy, wearing black jeans, a three-quarter sleeved grey shirt, and black leather boots, walked towards Danny and I. He started clapping when I fell over, laughing.

Danny punched me in the stomach and I started coughing.

"What was that for?"

"It's not funny."

I pouted and crossed my arms over my chest. I faintly remembered the boy from the asylum, but I couldn't exactly place him.

Danny laughed at my chubby-cheeked. She then asked the boy, "What's your name, huh?"

"George."

"Just George?"

"Just George."

I snorted. "Well, Just George, how do you know what those idiots' outfit colors stand for?"

"Because I know."

Danny looked at me, eyes partially squinted and untrusting, and motioned to the exit of the forest. We had about a mile left before we reached Rustboro City and we didn't need to waste time.

I nodded my head in agreement. "Well, you'll excuse us, we'll be on our way."

With that, Danny and I took our leave.

Danny and I decided to avoid everyone on the Route, because we just didn't want to deal with other people.

Danny was walking a few paces ahead of me when I noticed it.

She had another Pokéball.

One with a Pokémon in it.

"Danny?"

"Yeah?"

"Who's Pokéball is that?" I pointed to the unknown Pokéball.

"It's nothing important really."

"Mhm."

"Maybe when you have a few badges I'll tell you."

"Okay."

By then we had reached Rustboro by then and had headed to the Pokémart to stock up on potions.

"So, I'll accompany you through the gym, but I'm just going to watch the battle."

"Okay. I might need your help, though."

"You'll be strong enough."

I shook my head, "Not in that way."

"Then what way?"

I jumped up and shoved my arms in the air. "Encouragement!"

She laughed and twirled. "Well, I can do that."

We strolled to the Pokémon Center and healed our Pokémon.

"Hey, did you know that guy back in the woods," She asked.

"Yeah. Just barely, though."

We entered the gym and continued our conversation.

The gym trainers seemed to avoid us, knowing my name and face.

We passed several fossils and finally came to Roxanne.

I cleared my throat and the leader raised her head.

"Ella!"

"Hi, Roxanne." I waved.

"What can I do for you?"

I tilted my head in mock confusion, and pulled out Eve's Pokéball.

"Oh," she said, clearly suprised. "Let's make this quick."

"Then how about a double battle?"

"Exactly what I was thinking."

I let out Blade and Eve, excitement bubbling in my chest.

Roxanne let out her Geodude and Nosepass, seeming to be confident in her Pokémon.

We both were holding back, not wanting to take the first move. Roxanne finally had enough and commanded her Nosepass to use Rock Tomb on Blade.

I then ordered Blade to take off and use Swift. Eve started bounding around, not wanting to get hit by anything thrown at her.

Roxanne told both Geodude and Nosepass to use Tackle. Both Eeveelutions took initiative and used Swift.

The swift barely hurt the rock and ground types but stopped them in their tracks.

Roxanne had Nosepass use Rock Tomb once again and had Geodude use Tackle.

I told Eve to use Dazzling Gleam and Blade to use Fly.

Blade lifted off and Eve started sparkling.

Blade avoid a Rock Tomb and Eve took half of Geodude's HP.

Roxanne muttered under her breath and had Geodude use Rock Tomb. The rocks took three-forths of Eve's HP, but she surged forward.

Nosepass used Tackle and missed Blade, seeing as he was in the air.

Blade slammed into Nosepass and left him with one HP. I looked at Eve and nodded.

Sparkles filled the air as Eve took one last move.

Geodude and Nosepass fell over, fainted.

I had won.

I jumped and cheered, hugging both my Eeveelutions.

Danny ran and tackled me, clearly excited.

Roxanne was stunned, not expecting me to win.

"Well..."

"Yeah," I said.

"Here," she tossed a shiny, little badge at me. "You deserve it."

I walked out of the gym, with a spring in my step, ready to take on the world.

And honestly, I never would have thought I would have had to save it.
