Special 500 Reads Chapter: Danny's Friend

Danny stared at her backpack, longing to free the Pokémon her brother, Kyle, once gave her. It never seemed to trust her, seeing as how after she received it, her brother died.

How Kyle died, no one was for certain, yet she yearned to know, when no one else did.

Yet her Fennekin, Nikki, wasn't strong enough to battle the forces they would have to face completely.

But "He" was.

She planned for weeks. Her brother had been found dead in Kanto, in Celadon City. She planned to fly there on a plane and head to the exact place his body was found.

The plane ride took no less than six hours and she headed straight from the airport to a business known as "Rocket Game Corner."

When she arrived, the building was locked.
Peeking into the glass doors, she saw a man climbing into a home in the wall, with a bright, distinct red "R" on his shirt.

She shrugged then went to the local Pokémon Center to stay the night.

It wasn't until she layed awake on the Center's bed, staring at "His" Pokéball that she put two and two together.

The man was a member of Team Rocket, a notorious evil group in Kanto, much like Teams Aqua and Magma in Hoenn.

Team Rocket essentially created "Him."

She glanced at "His" Pokéball.

"He" was her brother's former Pokémon.

Now "he" was hers.

And that killed Kyle.

She snuck through the long corridors like a ninja, avoiding all grunts and spin tiles, creeping towards the leader's room.

When she arrived, she did so with style and a bang by having Nikki use Ember. The door flew off it's hinges.

The battle had begun.

Despite acting weak, Nikki was a prime level twenty-nine and had already KO'd Giovanni's Onix.

He had no defense moves besides Harden, which he never used.

Yet even though she was four levels higher than her previous opponent, she was exhausted.

Half way through into defeating Giovanni's Rhyhorn, Nikki fainted.

Giovanni laughed with delight. "Pay up, little girl.You have no more Pokémon left."

She steeled herself and reached into her bag.
Her hand grasped and tightened around the ball and she threw it into the air.

It was time.

A very angry Mewtwo blasted out of it's Pokéball, ready to make a run for it, yet when it saw Giovanni, a man who caused so much pain and anguish, it readied itself for a battle.

"Mewtwo, Aura Sphere, please!"

The Pokémon did so with glee. The girl reminded him of his friend and precious master, so she wouldn't be so bad.

Giovanni gasped as his Rhyhorn fainted. "You little brat. Kankgaskhan, go and use Mega Punch!"

"Mewtwo, dodge and counter with Shadow Ball."

He did as told and almost took out the opponent.

Kangaskhan used Mega Punch once more and took half of Mewtwo's HP away.

Mewtwo finished the battle with a swift Ice Beam to the opponent's face.

Danny sat with Mewtwo in her room at the Pokémon Center in Rustboro City.

She nudged Mewtwo's arm and pointed towards a girl with curly, brown hair running towards Petalburg Woods.

"She is the one." He mused.

The two took off after her.
