Flashback 11 years ago

A small boy was walking in the streets, along. His mother was at work, and he had no father as far as he was aware. For his friends, well, he didn't have any in a long time. Not since that fateful day on his fourth anniversary, when he was diagnosed quirkless, useless.

Izuku could felt tears rolling in his eyes. He could still remember a year ago when he would run in the park and laugh with kids from his school. Now said kids had become his tormentors, taking pleasure in breaking him physically and mentally.

With a sigh, he continued wandering aimlessly in the streets, just enjoying the moment of tranquillity he had. he stopped by a small park and sat down in the shadow of a tree, listening to the singing birds.

"Hum, hello," said a voice. Izuku opens his eyes to see who said that, and noticed a brunet that seems to be the same age standing in front of him. Izuku didn't recall seeing her before, that's probably why she was talking to him.

"What do you want," he replied with a monotone voice.

"Well, you see I moved in the area a few days ago, and I'm trying to make new friends."

Izuku frown, "just as I thought, she's new around here. She'll just be like the others." Without a word, he stood up and walked away.

"Wait, I don't even know your name!"

"Word of advice," explained Izuku, "forget about me, because I don't want to have anything to do with you." He then went back home.

The brunet was left shocked by this reply. This boy that seemed so nice on the outside just straight up told her to get lost before she could even start a conversation. Sher walked away, sad from how things turned out. But she got a hunch that this wasn't the last she would see of him.

And she was soon proven right as they happen to be in the same class at school. And she quickly figured out why he ran off from her the other day, as the other kids were plain assholes with him. They would push him around while laughing at him and call him names, and the teachers weren't doing anything to stop that.

They then tried to befriend her, but she only felt disgusted toward them after what she witnessed. During recess, she was looking for that boy. Which shouldn't be too hard with his very noticeable haircut resembling a broccoli. She then saw him sitting far away from everyone else, focused on a small notebook.

Izuku was passing the time in the only way he knew, outside of studying. And that was working on his quirk notebook. He was always fascinated by quirks, and would write down as many as he could get his hand on. Going from there effects to potential use and weaknesses, he always tried to make his notes as detailed as possible.

"Hello again," interrupted a voice. Izuku slowly rose his head, scared of what would happen to him today, only to be met with the girl from the park. "What's with the smile," thought the boy confused, "is she a psycho?"

"What you're doing here," he finally asked.

"I wanted to know more about you, since we didn't have the chance the other day at the park," she replied with a bright smile, almost blinding Izuku.

"But, why? Why me, I'm just a quirkless kid that can't do shit," he said with a morose tone.

"After witnessing how the other treated you, I don't want to befriend them. And you don't seem useless, at least your super smart," she said as she pointed his notebook.

"She didn't even mention about me being quirkless," thought the young boy. "Maybe she's different from the others."

"Okay, I guess we can try being friends."

"That's great," happily exclaimed the girl. "By the way, what's your name? I'm Ochako Uraraka."

"Izuku Midoriya," as they sook hand.

Back to present

"Those were good days, days that are now gone."
