In Abella's beauty room at the Joshua home, it's filled with her glam team. Her makeup artist flickers a brush in eyeshadow to pick up the color of her choice, while her hairstylist works on a braid.
A sleeping Idia lays in her lap as Abella slightly moves her legs back and forth to rock her. Her taking a week to work from home helped get Idia on track even if it wasn't the wisest to do right before a performance. She doesn't care as long as her household is in order.
Along with her glam team, there's an HBO camera crew getting footage for the documentary she's filming. It's a bit invasive having them in her home, but she signed up for this. It's going to take Abella some time getting used to being in front of the cameras and in the spotlight again. Tonight's going to be a true test if she's ready because she's performing at the BRIT Awards, which she's currently getting ready for.
"When was the last time you preformed?" One of the documentary producers asks. An incense burns and Abella hums with closed eyes before opening them.
"Uhh, when I was pregnant with my son, little AJ. He's about to be 5 in a few weeks, so almost five years. Wow, that's crazy," she's shocked herself how long it's been. She's spent a month in rehearsals, on top of working on her album.
"Why did you take a step back?"
"A lot of people didn't understand why I decided to take a break at the peak of my career. I was in my late twenties, so in other people's mind I had time to be a wife and have kids. I was just tired of the industry. I did the mother thing. I did the wife thing, all'at," she mimics Nicki Minaj with a laugh. "Now I'm back."
With perfect timing the door creeps open with Sadé peeking in. Abella looks over her shoulder knowing Sadé's waiting to be invited in. "What're you doing?" she asks motioning for her to enter.
"Nothing. Where are you going? A date?" She asks looking at all the people.
"No, Mommy has to work. I have to perform tonight at an award show."
