I'm leaning against my locker by my side when Sam nods over my shoulder in the midst of our conversation. I raise a brow and turn around to see Alex with his arm wrapped around a girl, Veronica. His face is bright and lightened up with a smile, matching the look on Veronica's face as she looks up at him adoringly.

Well, she moved on pretty fast.

"Hey guys," Alex exclaims as he approaches us.

"hey," we all say in unison, Veronica finally meets my gaze.

She looks away as quickly as she looked at me, at least she came today.

Everything the guys say seems to just drown out because I can only focus on Veronica, and not in that way. I may have been a jerk for rejecting her, but I don't see how I was one just because I don't return those feelings, but I care for her I mean she just lost her best friend and my little sister lost her best friend. They were like sisters.

I see Catalina walk by with her group, you can see the hint of sadness in her eyes as she watches Veronica but her stare turns icy once she sees me, remembering the reason she's upset. Great now it all feels like my fault.

"One sec guys," I mumble as I follow Catalina.

I grab her arm pulling her away from her group and frown. "What do you think you're doing?" I cross my arms over my chest. "Veronica came today, and you are not going to her."

"Yea that's what you do when you furious with someone."

"But that someone is also like your sister."

"Making the backstabbing more painful." She glowers.

"Just talk to her? Cmon you've known her forever, you can't throw away that friendship."

"Don't think I'm not upset at you either." She points a finger at me.

"What did I do?" I asked accused.

"You rejected her like nothing! You hurt her, so you hurt me, I'm not heartless." She says before walking away. Great now I'm caught up in the middle of all this, guessing I need to fix it.
